Look at quattroworld or here as there is a tip to raise the exhaust system a bit by using different location to "hang" the exhaust from around about under the passenger seat area. The exhaust to use is the oval shaped hanger with the small chain inside it, which is for MK2 Golfs with a cat.

Also replace the exhaust rubbers with new one that are not stretched.

Someone may be able to post photos of the new location, and the exhaust rubber.

This a useful start, but not the full picture in relation to your issue.

    The Audi Enthusiast website. Forums for all Audis including A4, S4, A5, S5, A6, S6, allroad, A8, S8, TT, R8, Q5, Q7, 4000, 100, 200, v6, v8, vintage, local forums

When you do the above it may not appear like a lot, but it is enough of a difference that you will notice an improvement.

It is best to find a friendly garage that will allow you to put the car on a ramp to see how the exhaust is attached and where you can improve it regarding ground clearance.

    HTH.

    Kind regards.

Wow, I just solved the electric window issue. After I could not find any dead fuse which was potentially related to electric windows.........In relay 347 the soldering tin melted away from a pin on the PCB. Must have pulled quite some amps to get that hot. Thanks to the hints on quattroworld.com I found it.

Windows are working again now after soldering myself. happy!

I put on the 18" avus wheels again, this time without the 16mm spacers at the front and that works. Somehow I was a bit too chicken, last year fitting those wheels, being afraid they were too close to the struts / steering arms. The car does have a bit too much Allroad looks now, still I need bottom clearance for the speed bumps since it has a 3" exhaust.

If I were to put on OEM Audi sport springs (1BE) from the UrS6 , how much lower will the car drop?

        front 2 cm?
        rear 1 cm?

I am looking into getting something like this height, but have no idea what springs are on these cars. Can anyone help me?

I have my S6 on Eibachs with the yellow Billsteins. Personally, i love the ride of the combo but find it sits slightly too high at the rear. Its not much but little things annoy me! Think JP had the right idea and went coilovers!!!!

Thanks for your reply. Do you have any side pictures of your UrS6 on Eibach springs?

In my experience, the difference between 1BA standard C4 UrS springs and the 1BE sport C4 UrS springs is the 1BE springs will sit the car lower by about 19 mm.

1BA to Eibachs was about 22-24 mm lower and 1BA to H&Rs was about 30 mm lower.

                        Hope that helps.

How do the stiffness of the H&R compare to the eibachs? The very slightly rear-high stance on the eibachs really winds me up, the back just doesn't sit low enough

Stiffness is not just about springs but also the shocks you are running. I can only comment on the Eibachs and Bilstein (sports) that I am running on my 93 UrS4: Sometimes I think they are too stiff (around town), sometimes I think they are too soft (highway speeds on bump roads). It's all about compromise unless you get a newer car with an automatically controlled suspension system.

As for the height, it is possible to have the rear shocks grooved (externally) so you can move the C-Clip down and reset the height of the spring perch.

I've not found this to be true. I'm running Eibach and Bilstein (been fitted for 5+ years) and had to use an 8 or 10mm spacer on the rear spring perch to lift it level with the front. This is also documented quite a bit on the US forums. One of the tuning companies over there was even selling the spacers for this very problem!

Of course maybe either Eibach or Bilstein have since altered their product.
'93 S4 Avant now back on the road complete with new shiny go faster bits.

Thanks for this info. It's helpful.

Will both front and rear levels drop by these mm numbers, or will the front be lowered a bit more than the rear?

Reason I ask is that the 1BA I have currently fitted pushes the front a few cms higher than the rear setup. See picture.

I am afraid that when I mount new lowering springs, the front will still be higher compared to the rear.........

                                Any thoughts on this?
