Introducing Jeeves the S2 - Better pics to follow

So, apologies first for using this website for a wealth of info and not getting round to posting any info about my car. I bought it approx 4months ago and have been busy enjoying it, rather than cleaning it and taking pics. Now that winter is here, it is going in the hutch whilst the salt is laying on the roads. It doesn't require any urgent work as such but I should use the downtime to install a stereo and do a couple of little snagging jobs (I am no mechanic unfortunately)

I have only ever named Audi's that I have owned. Not sure why that is really but this one has been christened Jeeves. Alas, he cannot open the front door, fetch my paper or bring me beer but where he fails in some areas, he more than makes up for around corners and on the straights.

    Quick run down of spec

1991 3B in Dark Emerald Green.
Movit front brakes upgrade (wow, serious stopping power and it needs it)
Uprated manifold, IC, Hybrid turbo, Miltek exhaust and stage 1 MTM chip upgrade producing a supposed 303bhp but I have to say it feels quicker, especially when pitched against other machines. Not found any serious challengers yet but lost count of the amount of times I am given a bewildered look by someone who has just spent £60k on their car only to be handed their **** on a plate by a 21yr old motor.

Approx 30k miles ago, it had the work done on it. It also had a respray and fresh bespoke cream leather upholstery replaced along with door cars etc. New door seals, new headlights, new interior carpets (they could have got some decent mats ha ha) and various other things. Being picky, there is still plenty to do have him looking like new but the main work has been done.

I wanted an earlier 3B 5 spd car with a single mass flywheel and a combination of factors over the years (been looking on and off for about 5yrs) including availability of cash, availability of the car I wanted and other less important factors, mean that it has taken some time to find one.

I am no mechanic, so it had to be decent condition car with a fine history and I had to ensure I had the funds to keep it going rather than just finding the cash to buy and then worrying about various parts/servicing. Not looking forward to brake replacement for example. Fortunately a previous owner had a glut of cash to spend on it. The bills and history are scary. MTM did very well out of the previous owner. Mind you, I think the car did rather well out of MTM (touch wood)

Anyhow, these pics are truly rubbish but I am no photographer and I had to go over to my mums to borrow her camera. It had no battery life, so only managed to take 4 pics in failing light. Pretty sure I will need your help from time to time with various possible issues but just a quick hi and thanks for all the posts, info and banter that I see on here regularly.

    Couple of questions I have are;

    1. Should the MTM badge remain? I'm undecided but thinking it will have damaged the paint if they used something stupid as an adhesive. I would rather it wasn't there as it is a little suggestive.

    2. What is the best product for cleaning the black exterior trim. It is in good order, just needs a clean and then something to maybe protect it.

When it comes out of hibernation, it will be getting a proper decent clean with some good products and I will then learn how to use a camera properly and find some decent scenery.

Thanks for having such an awesome forum. It is impossible to read the posts and not want one of these machines.

Nice looking 3b, and I think the cream seats match well with the black carpet (Better - no cleaning headaches!)

I can't remember what someone suggested using to bring out the oils in the exterior trim again, I know that trim detailer or tire dressing works wonders but you might need more than that since it's faded.

Cheers for sharing your newish toy

If it's got the MTM upgrade then the MTM badge is perfectly acceptable, so it's down to personal taste. From what you posted, I get the impression you prefer the less is more approach to cars, so maybe you should keep it safely inside the glovebox

Autoglym bumper care is reasonably good if you're not looking to spend too much but I'm sure there are better products for more money.

I'm in Shenington, just along the Stratford road. (thought replying in this thread would be better) There are a few other forum members in the area and of course MRC is in Banbury too! You'll have to come along to the next local meet, the rolling road day at MRC last year was a good day out. I'd be happy to help if you have any problems with the S2 let me know.

I sometimes get out that way, my sister lives in Epwell (sort of, a farm nearby)

Thanks for the offer, will deffo let you know if I run into problems and need some assistance. Looks like lots of help with parts and knowledge are available here which is great.

The MTM badge can be removed with the use of a hairdryer and dental floss. (seriously). Gently warm the badge and hence the glue underneath and then pull the badge off with the floss. The remaining adhesive can be removed with a citrus based glue remover. I think Halfords still sell "Sticky Stuff" remover.

Nice looking car and good write up.

                    and enjoy!

                    Cheers,

                    Steve

Good suggestion Steve, thanks for that. Will continue to umm and ahh about it and see if I have the bottle. Would rather it looked as standard as poss.

Thanks also for the comments and the advice on trim cleaning etc. Time to get my hands dirty and ensure the black compliments the paintwork better than it currently does.

See you all in the New Year with a shiny motor with any luck.
