    Ur and Boxster S

We were out for a run in the Ur today, lovely it was too, with the car on song and the sun fighting through the gloom of a January day, when, we arrived at a set of traffic lights, and there came alongside a Porsche Boxster S, now I'm not normally one for rising to the challenge, lest all with an 1827 mile old engine... But it really, really does feel exceptionally fit... So, smugginess Boxster-v-Victor Meldrew with a snot on... No/fail wasn't going to be an option... And in true quattro fashion, the bogging in on start helped the Boxster but soon saw the balanced and lightened Ur engine get going, really going... Third was interesting, because the torque just keeps coming, stretching the Boxster backwards from the front right wing to several metres behind the rear quarter, then, a playful explosion through the tailpipes later, the old girl was hunkered down in forth... Truth be told, the edge on the Boxster was slight, but there, which, to be fair, is superb for a 1985 Ur running K jet.... It was a lovely moment... The old girl is rather fit at the moment...

Its standard Bosch KE jet fuelling ( which limits it quite a bit) with the Zener Diode modded ECU and kkk26k, but it was rebuilt last year by JP on here and was lightened and balanced beautifully. The head was already ported with standard valves, then there's a modified airbox, larger intercooler and 3" single box exhaust. Waffle aside, I can only guess it's a bit more than a standard car, but not as much as the S2 or Rallyrep, so, guesstimate, 250/260'ish... But there's a superb torque delivery, it really does 'shove' forward when asked.

This was when we were starting to stretch her legs about 1000 miles into running in...

Nice story. I have no regrets about the 20V swap, but on the original 10V engine (dyno'd at 205 bhp and 245lbft) I did manage to hold my own fairly well, fun that you can really use it more often too!

The 3500 K shove of torque and the nice deep sound was always fun, bet it's even more fun with your mods.

I guess with a paint scheme like that you're bound to get the odd bit of interest. Still it is great when a car that is nearly 30 years old can show its mettle. I think we'd all be tempted to do the same
