  • Noise from hub area low speeds

If I drive for say 40 minutes I get a hum that sounds like the front left brake is dragging, it is not though.

it only does it at low speed and it will stop if I corner or brake.

It doesn't sound like a wheel bearing, more like the hub rubbing on the carrier or something...

I checked calliper is all free and spaced correctly - it is and its well clear of the wheel.

    Any ideas?

Its an ABY S2 with 996 callipers.

It's the 996 caliper, most of us have had it from time to time. Pop the pads out and smear a bit of copper grease on the edges and backs.

OK, I will give it a go.

I had the pads out yesterday and it all seemed ok, but you guys know best.

        I hope I'm right then

Mine drove me up the wall, I would grease them and it would be ok for a couple of thousand miles then start droning again, touch the brake and it would stop for a few minutes then come back. In the end I threw the anti squeel shims away and copper greased the edges and backs of the pads and it's been fine since for thousands of miles, you sometimes hear the pads move in the calipers when you're parking though, like a metallic clonk.
