Loss of RS2 to water
Maybe you should engage a local Loss Adjuster who will work on "your behalf" and negotiate for your own best interests .. he will then deal direct with your insurer who have appointed "their" loss adjuster who is dealing with your claim .. ( loss adjusters often know each other )
Ask your " Own " Loss Adjuster to get your insurance to pay you out direct @ your RS2 Policy Insured Value .. ask them to leave you with that pay out cash & you keep the RS2 as a not Cat stained car .. it is your car to do whatever with anyway.
Ok you will have to pay for your own Loss Adjuster .
Without profesional help your Insurance will only pay out the agreed policy value anyway & not any enhanced value that RS2,s are selling for today!
Time to get tough .. we all need that you get the good result.Comment

Well I am positive she will start and drive, no power went to the ECU's and the engine turns over by hand. I had a good look inside the spark plug recess and could not see water in there, and the plugs were not wet either just the usual burnt fuel on them as you'd expect with high octane fuel...
She could be brought back to her glory again, but it will take time and effort but well worth it when you fire her up and hear that purring...I just had the aircon re-installed and a new hose made up too...gutted again...
I argued with the insurance about the CAT A,B,C and initially they said that she would more than likely be a CAT C as she was not being driven, there is absolutely no structural damage and again no power connected...
I'm going to be on the phone for a long time with the insurance tomorrow again, see if I cannot get them to back up a little and pay out a nice little sum to assist in repairs then I'd do it all myself, just right now is very tight with the wongaz

You would think that if you request payment for repairs for a lesser value than they would be paying out for the car they would like to save the money.
Eg
Give you 18k and crush the car
Give you 10k and you keep the car
Also depends if you want Cat C RS2, and the grief of sorting it.
However insurance companies seem to follow their own logic.Current-2004 Impreza PPP wagon

If you are looking into buying a CAT C RS2 you'd first want to know the pedigree I guess and do all the legwork to ensure she is not going to fall apart, this car now has a lengthy history on here and just about everyone on here has seen her change hands a couple times and know she's had the best of care, so it stands to reason she would be a good seller in my eyes. Most folk on here are pretty handy with a spanner and pliers and will be able to work on most of these cars themselves even a CAT C, but it is a change to take for the insurance side as she will always have this mark on her file, but if I go down the route of selling her as she is then she will not have any mark against her name...

Thats how I read it as well, but then unless you can fix it for less than £10k,(undoubtedly some on here would) you would not turn a profit/make it worth your while... especially as being with a CAT marker it will be worth up to a third less in value. You would think that if you request payment for repairs for a lesser value than they would be paying out for the car they would like to save the money.
Eg
Give you 18k and crush the car
Give you 10k and you keep the car

Equally, for the £18k that was paid for it, it would have undoubtedly been worth more in the current market....and with agreed value of £18k unlikely the insurance will pay out more...

Bit of a dilemma you have Mike. In my view i think you'll get a very good offer for this car without going through the insurance (assuming that's still an option). Looking at rs2 prices recently, the price you paid I wouldn't be surprised if you would have sold it for another 10k more before flood. So in it's current state, selling it for what you paid seams possible to me. It just needs a full strip down/clean and bolted back together. People with the time/skills could do this without too much trouble/cost.1995 Audi S2 AvantComment

Ok guys and girls, the latest update is my insurance will pay me £18000.
They will come remove her and take to a garage to inspect fully then be put into crusher,
I guess I've made the yard workers task easier seeing how I've stripped her interior out!!
So it just remains to say that I'm not sure if anyone is this keen to buy a very rare flooded car for this amount so my presumptions are simply that she will most likely be going....but if anyone has that amount and knows the car feel free to offer same and she will be yours, I can arrange a trailer to bring to you if you are serious...
EDIT - I forgot to mention that I told them I'd contact them by Friday to inform them what my intentions are...
Very sad day

Mike - you know I'm really sorry for your situation, but if you are getting £18k from the insurers, then it's really all that matters in your situation. What happens with the car after that, although a travesty, isn't something to lose too much sleep over.
For what it's worth, you know that I'm keen to find more RS2's to put in my garage. I have seen your car, I have the funds and you wouldn't even need to go very far with a trailer, but I'm sorry mate, it's not for me. Be pragmatic about it - it's only metal at the end of the day. There are lots of bits on that car that I'd like to have for spares, but I'd not be paying that kind of money for a parts car.
Of course, there might be a few bits and pieces that you could forget to put back on the car before it gets cubed........ I've got a number of substitute parts here which might not be noticed. I wonder if standards S2 wheels could be made to fit. I have an S2 gearbox that will go in place of the RS unit and a number of other S2 bits here.....
