S2 vs Fiat Coupe - Roll on new coils

On way to work this morning and over took mate in corsa with silver coupe following, couldnt shake him off my tail at all. got up to xxx mph and had to slow down.

Looking forward to getting the new coils fitted to my car since it doesnt feel anywhere near as pokey at the top end as it use to at the min.

Just waiting for new connectors to come before they get fitted.

A well sorted Fiat COupe turbo is swift enough in a straight line, but you must be well down on oomf with your bolt-ons Greg to not have been able to shake him off.

Keep us updated with photos and stuff on the coil pack saga...

Don't under estimate the Fiat Coupe, 2ltr 20v turbo engine, it's lighter and lower slung.

My mate had one and it was quicker than the S2 but then it was my first drive of my car on the way back from London after buying it!

Just make sure the race is a long one and it will fall apart before the end....

LMAO, thats true. Must admit had it on braking too. The weight certainly makes a difference on these cars. Would be interested to know what sort of power he was running too

Those wee things run Brembo 4-pots up front. They are FWD and rather light. Oddly they have a 5 cylinder 20VT engine and run Bosch Motronic. Spooky huh. One of the lads in work has one. The run some version of a Garrett T3 blower. Torque Steer is one way to describe their behaviour.

The blowers are quite weak on the car and prone to blowing, it also uses about 0.5 - 1 litre of oil every 1-2 k miles on a healthy older engine.

Greg mate, the Fiat forum have their own chip guy who knocks out home fries, they are lethal when those chips are installed.

My mates was chipped, 2.5" exhaust and cone filter and was knocking on 260-270 bhp.

All that torque, light weight and FWD, it can't get it down on the tarmac as well as the S2 from a standing start I guess.

A mate of mine had a black 'Limited Edition' one of those.
32K miles. Looked smart, sounded smart and went. But bits did indeed just fall off it. Within months the dash fell apart , backbox went, turbo went , never got the brakes to work properly, etc, etc.
He also took it skiing in France , apart from getting the breakdown Co. to start the thing (iced up completely!) he also had a 'moment' on the icy roads and hit a bus!...had to scour Europe for weeks for a new 'LE' front bumper.

All-in-all a nightmare!, he now drives a base A4 TDi.

                      'Tis slower than the S2!

How many times we do 0-60 unless it's from lights?

The times to look at are for example 30-50 and the other times when it's moving.

My old car did 0-60 in about 8 secs but it's 30-50 was quicker than some Porsches due to gearing (official specs).

Once moving many cars are the S2 equals in straight line speed in certain speed ranges

yup thats very true, in reality 30-50 and 50-70 are far more important figures than 0-60 because its not very often your doing traffic light grandprix.

Greg, you def need to get it sorted, if u you cant lose it then, then i would suspect you need to go on a driving course

My mate has one, rolling roaded at 254bhp, thats with chip and induction kit.
They are fast, he was at a rolling road meet recently and only 1 had more than 300 horses but was undrivable cos of the amount of wheelspin.

With your power you should have been well away!

yeah we will see once I get the coils fitted because it seems to hold back at the moment which is probably due to the coils. Just goto wait for connectors to arrive and should be well away.
