S2 vs Fiat Coupe - Roll on new coils

Have you ever changed a timing belt on one, My brother for his sins drives a marea 5cyl 20V and the belt on that was a Biatch to do. Managed to do it withought removing the engine (as the manual says), but the coupe's are even tighter than these with about 1/2" of clearance down the belt side and 3" on the gearbox side, and its a case of unbolt Most of the suspension, driveshafts, subframe and wedge the engine over a few inches to get your hands in. All in all it took 9 Hours of fighting with sh1tty FIAT own bolts (made of bone china), crappy plastic snappy things, sticky tape and a bog roll tube-- (oh they are a blue peter special). Beautifull engine, just crap materials. Oh and Bosch Coil packs
Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.--:Albert EinsteinComment

Just been talking to a work mate, he has to change his cambelt soon and is thinking of having a go but knows it will be a PITA. He also knows of the guy with the silver Fiat. Turns out it has a 270hp chip in it and an electronic boost controller so that he can overboost it further.

Totally believable - the Fiat Coupe brigade seem to have a preference for Greddy boost controllers... very common indeed. Probably cos proper Motronic upgrades are almost unheard of.
They also suffer from a pathetically sizes intercooler - bigger FMICs are big money on the Coupe Turbo from what I hear.

Is the motornic on thoses very similar to the S2 in that it can have overboost programmed into it in the chip without the need for greddy? FMIC cant be that much can they.....?Greg

hi guys
i have been an admirer of the audi coupe (except the TT :mischeif: ) for years (even back to the original ones ) but am currently a fiat coupe 20VT owner and have been for nearly 5 years .
i am not here to tell you my car is better etc as we all have our preferences
, but to instead just ask you to have a wee read of the fiat coupe forum and check out maybe the trackday section and the tuning section, in-fact why not have a roam
. you will get a better picture of the car and its abilities than the urban myth that follows us
.
nice site BTW ,

checkout this meeting of the coupe VS nissan 200 SX , these things can be very successful provided the "my car is better than your car" brigade dont get started
anyway
i will keep my eyes peeled to see if this ever gets off the ground , i am sure that if it does there will be a few surprises

I had not warmed the car up, but could not resist a bit of fun
so kept the boost down a bit
