ABY Cross member TRADE

I am in the annoying situation of owning an ABY cross member with a 3B engine. I don't suppose anyone has a 3B xmember kicking about, or even better if somone is in the reverse situation to mine and wants to trade?

Why would you trade it when you could stick an ABY intercooler on or mod it for a RS2 intercooler?

Both are bigger than the 3B variant.

Erm good question, i think they're both the same, i was really trying to point to the fact he could mod it without messing up his OEM 3B.

It may be a good purchase for you Ross so you keep your car on the road whilst doing the welding then again maybe not.

it is easier to mod the ABY one since the mounts are in the same place on the IC, the 3B IC has different mounting points & requires a new bracket all together.

This is all news to me I thought the only difference was that a 3B x-member faced up. I am still faced with the problem of having a 3B Samco kit which wont fit my car due to the cross member. Does the ABY just have one big hose running down from the inlet pipe (above the rocker)?

I think I need to see a ABY before I make any kind of trade,

the ABY pipe work is similar in most respects. the pipe down by the rocker cover is a single piece and then a single pipe to the IC X member.

The 3B has two pipes and a small metal section instead of the single ABY pipe.

I think the exit pipe angle of the 3B X member is very slightly different too.

If you have the 3B kit, all you need is the short 3B metal pipe with the curve. Click my sig and you should find some pics of the 3B pipework.
