ABY has stronger engine bearing and on most later models metal headgasket ( 3B has a naff paper one )
6 speed box can handle more torque than the 5 speed but both cope quite well up to 300-320 bhp.
ABY has coil pack ignition over dizzy ignition on the 3B#
But that car has had an engine rebuild with the stronger bearings so no worries there
Also...a big factor on the ABY is the battery is located under the seat and not under the bonnnet so the engine has a lot more room to play with...
Unless you move the 3b battery to ABY location of course :mischeif:

Not many dodgy MOT stations left now its all computerised and more strict.....De cat.....3 or maybe even 4 inch straight through exhaust system here we come (not through rear subframe though for 4 inch!)
Well I must say that you guys are very friendly and soooo helpful...I get a great feeling of camaraderie in here..... I'm looking forward even more now to owning an S2 after the response I've had...so much so I'm now the highest bidder for this S2 and reserve is met at £2500.. ...won't be for long though me fears.....
ABY has overboost too. In theory this is great as it gives (as standard) 1 bar instead of the 3B's 0.8 bar up to about 5k RPM but in reality it basically means that when you're expecting 1 bar to over take in a rather tight spot in 4th, you get 0.8bar and lose about 60ftlbs cos the ECU decides otherwise... great! What a pointless feature!
300bhp is going to be bloody good fun. Means you've got the edge over those pesky hot hatches that keep giving my standard motor a run for it's money!
