The plug connector for it (on an ABY at least, not 100% on 3B) is located just below the strut brace, on the bulkhead, drivers side.
The connector is grey in colour, next to it should be a black connector for the ignition timing sender G4.
[No idea if this is your problem, just supplying some info]
2001 Avus Silver B5 RS4.
2004 A4 Avant 1.8T quattro Sport-LE.
1995 S2 Coupe - sold (sniff)
Thats great stuff m8' I check to see if its ok,might save me a bit of money.
I must say it would be nice if it was the cause of the problem, because I have done just about every thing else .
Hmm....good question!!
The picture with the test doesnt seem to go into much detail on pins 1>3 and 2>3 does it?
Your 972 ohm reading is perfect for the 1000ohm (1Kohm) estimate they have given on the procedure..
but as you say 1-3 and 2-3 are not clear about what readings they should have!!
Maybe would be best if someone can check on their car (that runs well w/sound G28 etc) and see what readings they get? Where is the plug connector for the G28? I will take a reading when I get chance if you like
Well last night I thought I would have a fiddle with the car, and desided to fit a new front knock sensor,i've had it some time. When i took it of it just crumbled in my hands, fitted the new one,and the car absolutly flies, its never run this good ever, its stil has this jolt/misfire, and it did cut out coming up to a junction,so I still have a problem. The other thing that happens is it makes a high whistleing sound, quite loud,or loud enough to hear. I have new samcos so I don't think its a boost leak, but it dose sound a bit like air escaping. The interesting thing is that the knock sensor did not show a fault when the car was vagcomed. only the g28, and by the look of the knock sensor its been a problem for quite some time.
Do's anyone get this whistling sound on there 3b when on boost,I must say it do's sound like air escaping under pressure, and I can't hear any thing like it in my s6
Just wondered if its something I should investegate, or if its normal.

Get it pressure tested for a boost leak
At worst it could be a cracked exhaust manifold, even worse the turbo is on it's way out.
Can't decide whether to change g28 or not, still have this jolt/cutout, mostley around 2500revs. Is it worth taking of and cleaning, or shall I just bite the bullet and shellout another 100 quid.
Pin 3 is grounding around cable for avoiding outside signals to mess the original signal from speedsensor. So no contact is ok. This sensor is not dead. Try to run the engine and move the cable for sensor a litle bit and see if you get an errorcode. The line inside the sensor cable can be broken and may take avay the signal for a short time, but i doubt it.
