Ur-S4 For sale, any details?

Its got S6 running gear. I just like the look of it and it should be quick.
How much is an S6/S4 and what sort of performance can you get from them?

So why a 5 speed box then?? I'm not sure that S6 running gear would mount up to the 5 speed transmission plus the front track is wider on the S4/S6 and this one hasn't got the S4 flared arches to accomodate this! Needless to say I am unconvinced that this has S6 running gear but I could be wrong. As i said earlier a nice S4 can be had for £2k and an S6 for £3-4k tops! Both of these can be easily modified to a higher spec than this car and you'll know that you've done it right. If anything goes wrong with that car you're not gonna know which parts to buy for it and if it really is running 330bhp then sooner or later the 5 speed gearbox is gonna spit it's dummy (or more likely it's internals) out!!

I dont know anything about the engines and gearboxes on these just about the change on S2's from 3B to aby. Just been on fleabay and autotrader. Found an allright S6 with 143k up for 3495. Completely standard though so i think i would want to get it running some decent power asap.
Think whatll ill do is sleep on it a while, see if the car shifts and if it doesnt make a very low offer? Souns sensible!? Atleast anyone else considering this car now has something to read!

That silver one on autotrader has been for sale for some time so there's plenty of haggling power there. £250-£500 will get you 270-280bhp which is enough to start with!!

If it's got a 5 speed then chances are it's still using the V6 running gear. Those 5 speeds are not strong at all and that's with the pathetic 2.8 engine attatched. Someone's obviously gone to a lot of trouble to convert this car and they obviously had a wrecked S6 sitting around so why wouldn't they have swapped the transmission? Of course it could have been an auto S6. I wouldn't want to buy this car, certainly not for that money, as there are too meny unknowns and this car doesn't know what it is (S4,S6,V6??? ). The insurance will be high if you declare everything (genuine urS4 insurance is very cheap even with mods!!) and you'll surely need an engineer's report to get it covered properly which he may or may not have already. IMHO it's worth a few quid in parts but not a lot as it is. £2k at a push!! As Fish has said, if you want an S4 or S6 then go buy a proper one!

Perhaps it was a European S4/S6 that the running gear came from, some of them had a 5speed 01E gearbox fitted, CET code i think.

Just been researching... I may be completely off here lol, but could it well be a RS2 spec AAN engine. As in have the AAN inlet/exhaust manifold and a RS2 turbo. Ive asked for the part number on the turbo. What can I do to find out about the gearbox!?
Even if it is just a URs4 or S6 engine i think i might give it a punt just at a low low price as I love the look of it and the other bits on it.
Also is there any risk of there being a problem with the exhaust as its off a Tdi!?

Not gonna be making any decisions soon though, lots more research to be done and thinking of what its really worth etc.

The amount I've learnt today already and its my 1st day on the forum!!!

You will need the 3 letter code stamped on the bottom of the gearbox to identify which it is.

The cup alloys that come with it are a mix ... 2x CUPs and 2x CUP IIs... So not a complete set, could only be sold as singles I would assume.

Probably best to get the exhaust changed incase its restrictive, should not be too hard tho.
