there's a little mistake from your friend in the spanish forum....
the RS2 was assembled by Porsche in Zuffenhausen and not in the Quattro Gmbh

[QUOTE=Jonas_R;283856]The S6plus is in fact not an audi, or at least it does not have an audi vin number. It has a Quattro GMBH vin number. QUOTE]

Well, not being an Audi would come as a complete and utter surprise to ETKA seeing how its there in spades. Check the V-pages, VIN Numbers overview. Build dates were from June 1, 1996 to Oct. 31, 1997. VINs ran from 4A-V-000001 to 4A-V-002000 (where V = 1997 MY).

In "contrast" (NOT), the normal S6 VINs for 1997 from July 1, 1996 to Oct. 31, 1997 ran from 4A-V-000001 to 4A-V-150000. By the end of July, 1996 they were up to 002860, so I presume (guess) that the month jump start on the S6plus (starting in June instead of July, 1996) must have some how reserved the first 000001 to 002000 VINs for the S6plus.

Yeah ofcourse it is in ETKA, but the VIN number is not an audi vin number but a Quattro GmBh vin number.

Well my friend owns an Audi S6plus, and it is not an audi VIN number but a quattro gmbh vin number.

Perhaps you should do some reading here:

I see nothing there that proves what you are saying. (Meine Deustche nicht so gut ist).

I am not suggesting that the S6 plus was not built by Quattro GmBh. I just don't agree with your statement "The S6plus is in fact not an audi". Of course its an Audi. Are Alpinas not BMWs? Are AMGs not Mercedes? And I would have to see a complete VIN (WAU...) to be convinced that ETKA is wrong.

I think what Jonas is saying is that cars built at quattro GmbH have VINs that start with WUAZZZ instead of WAUZZZ. Whether or not the S6plus has WUAZZZ I don't know, but as all other cars built at quattro GmbH do, I'd expect it to.

Well nice of you to quote me and leave out the part where I mentioned that atleast the vin number is not an audi vin number. Ofcourse the car is an Audi, but Audi only supplied the the frame to quattro gmbh and they built the complete car.

The model name is also called Q1 and therefore not the same as the normal S6's.

If you go to a audi dealer and give them the vin number on an s6plus they start to tell you that you mistyped it because it aint the same. An s6plus start with a VIN that looks like this WUA and not WAU.

Well s6plus.de has an english version and if you look here:
              http://www.s6plus.de/eTechnik-Tabelle.htm

Ang go down to chassi, you will se the difference in the VIN number.

Well thank you And yes it has the difference in the VIN no. and the in the cars paper in does not say audi as a model. Know when my friend imported his car and had to get it insured, this was quite a problem.

Well at least you now admit the S6 plus is an Audi.

I was not aware of the WAU vs WUA difference so I have learned something new today. My previous understanding of Audi VINs is outlined in a post I made on AudiWorld (as Librarian):

                      http://forums.audiworld.com/s4s6/msgs/88908.phtml

Not that I want to start another "discussion" but I would be surprized if Audi only supplied the "frame" (body/chassis) to Quattro GmBh. There are soooo many common parts I would find it easier (logically) to believe that cars were delivered without engines, running gear and interiors. Are there any websites that have pictures of the delivery of the "frames" to Quattro GmBh? I would really like to see (and save) those.

Hope we have come to some form of accord. (NOT the Honda either)

Well I was told that they delivered the frames to Quattro GMBH. I would guess that they used the nessary parts, and manufactored the rest. This I cant prove however, just something I was told at the last audi S-class meet I was at.

                        Cheers

I always thought that the front bumper on an S6+ was, in some way, bigger than on a standard UK/Euro S6. From looking at those website links, it doesn't seem like it.

                              the S6plus

                              Hey to all here.

I am the happy owner of the Audi S6plus Jonas_R speaks of.

And it seam to be some differnce fact of my car.

                              1. the car was build from 1996/6 to 1997/6 in 97 sedan and 855 avant

                              2. the car was build at quattro GmBh with a vin number starts WUA from buttom, but all parts was delivered from Audi except from the engine and the gearbox, this is quattro own develop not to be found i any other Audi.

                              3. the big difference from a normal S6 is this: new engine V8 326 Bhp-new gearbox with shorter 4-5-6 gear-bigger front brakes 323x30- bigger/speciel wheel 17" with 255/40-17-speedo to 300 km/h-speciel interior with 3 colour alcantare (blue-gray-black)-sportsuspenction 20mm lower-All cromparts comes in Black

i think thats about cover it.

the driving feeling i more like the new V8 generation than the old V8.

i might come to England this comming summer and anyone feeling up to a test drive you are very welcome..

Hope this help a littel to the confusetion
