My Cav came onto full boost at 3k (18psi), having more lag on the S2 would make it even worse that it is now

Yeah, is the Cav like the S2 a bit in that 280 on a standard turbo is about it?

Sorry we can't change the S2 for you for much cheapness. If you ever get it on track then it all makes sense, doesn't really work until it's at 95%+ and you've got to be mental to do that on the roads.

Nah, you can get just about 300, but thats on the limit.

Just out of interest, can someone knock up a quick list with rough prices of EVERYTHING you need to RS2 a car, or atleast to get it to 300bhp

I've got homefries, RS2 IC, cat back exhaust, samcos no boost leaks and 297/330

              For RS2 you need

ECU - either RS2 or I thin kPaul can sort the S2 one. £400
              turbo - you knew that - £400
              injectors - greens - £250
IC - if you've not got it yet, a Bo style one is bigger and cheaper - £300
EM - if you want to get the most out of it - £150-£450
              Water injection - £250

Minimum is turbo and injectors with a remap. Everything else is efficiency things so you might not get 360-380 out of it chipped but it'll be 300+ all day long. Water injection might be a good plan to minimise EGTs and charge temps, larger IC is needed to make the air denser though.

                rs2 intercooler about 200 quid
                rs2 injectors 150
                turbo about 3 t0 400
manifold not really sure recon about 300
                lso 3inch exhaust price varies,
                remap about 500 i think
                all second hand parts
if not rs2 route, do what andy has done hes nearly touching 300 bhp, i done 289 with standard intercooler.

Right then, whether I will regret it or not who knows, but at least I can say Ive tried....

For now I am going to stick with it and see what I can work out on a limited budget.
I would like to get it on some rollers asap to see what it is actually making at the moment.
I will also try to find a local weighbridge to see exactly what Im up against!
The spare and sub may have to go afterall :mischeif:

Then I wouldnt hear the exhaust and engine, and that too is music to my ears!
I am going to buy a quick release connector for the sub, then it can be removed and replaced easily when I feel the need to lighten things up abit

Get it on the rollers, then you'll know where you're at. It might be down for some reason anyway, approx what sort are power do you think it should be running at the mo anyway?

Even if you did decide to sell, people would be squeezing you as much as they could anyway, great for buying at the mo...not so great for selling.

Dont go from a tidy S2 back to a Cav mate..

There is nothing wrong with cavs (well, good Turbo ones!)
Just because something isnt an Audi it doesnt make it crap lol
You wont find any blinkers in my house

Power wise, if everything is ok it should be around 270-280 I believe?
Its homefried with a Milltek rear box, and custom centre that has no box, no other engine mods yet!

@dest - you should be circa 280bhp at the flywheel if all is healthy.

You have ADDED weight to your car though with bigger rims and a sub FCOL so you are taking the edge of it alright - especially so if you are a lil down on power if carrying some sort of problem on the engine like a small air leak or whatever.

Other question - what fuel do you run ? Anything less than 98RON and the ECU starts to pull back the timing for less aggressive ooomf

My advice is get rid of the weight you don't need.
Get the car weighed if you can and deffo get it dyno'd for your own sanity along with independent boost and AFR measurements... Do the dyno run in 4th.

Go for the RS2 airbox (or mod the ABY one).

Wind down the wastegate for a bit more mechanical boost if you wish - you should get up from 0.4 to about 0.6bar mechanical boost without the ECU getting concerned - it will adapt elecrical boost control accordingly.

A bigger intercooler will reap benefits when I dial out the reverse temp compensation from the ABY software - its not easy, but I'm still working on that.

Consider a SM flywheel if you can - BIG job though and I wouldn't bother unless you are doing a clutch at the same time.

Good man for keeping the faith on the S2 - yours is too damn nice to sell in the current market - you'd be throwing money away and struggle to find a better looking one another day.

Should be 280 if all's well. Get it to a rolling road and check.

@ Paul, ABY WGs are fully wound down IME, mine was as I checked. 1.7 bar spring is the way to go I think.

I have just looked up my sub out of interest, it is just under 11kg, not going to make a huge difference really.
I know it all adds up, but apart from that there is pretty much nothing else in the car! IE no junk and the boot is always totally empty (apart from the sub of course )
I could remove the spare and counteract the sub's addition if needed.

Fuel: I NEVER run anything less than super from either BP, Shell or Esso.

I will give Western Performance a ring early next week to see about getting it run to make sure its as it should be.
Does anyone know off hand how much it is for a run there?
