The 1.9 is good for 165-170bhp and around 280lb/ft torque. More can be got from it but you don't want to go mad as the DMF is not a cheap job and with a quattro there's nothing else to spin other than the clutch if you have too much power and too much traction.
The 2.5s also map up pretty well, the 155FWD to around 190bhp and the 180 quattro to around 210 but these have a terrible tendency to kill the injector pump at around 110k which is around £600 to put right and there's not many people other than Audi that can code them in (I do have the correct tools and do a fair few of them.. even for the local Bosch centre
) as they are linked into the immobiliser.
I'd go for the 1.9PD if I were you. The 2.5 is pretty old hat to be honest and they're not great on fuel either.1994 Audi S2 Avant - in pieces
2006 Skoda Octavia vRS 2.0TFSi - goes fast
1985 Audi 90 quattro - is wet

Id rather have something newer if I had to swap to diesel, may aswell have all the toys instead of the power!
Plus, I dont think Id want to be reminded of an S2, thats just rubbing your own nose in it
But the obvious question would have to be, how much cash my way? Maybe I could get a weekend toy with it....

i had a B6 2.5tdi quattro sport avant ex press car for 18 months. On mixed driving i wold get 38mpg. And if you ragged it within an inch of its life it never and i mean never went below 35mpg. On a run will easy see low mid 40's. I averaged 44.9mpg driving from NE scotland to london and back with family in the car last october.
But note the quattro sports BAU/AKE (the 180bhp cars) are prone to some potentially huge bills, mine never did but all round it was a good car, just a too small for me and our family needs. Its a weird card initially for a 180bhp/400nm it doesnt feel that fast, but get it up above 50mph and on any B road and you will really start to find hte grove. The standard quattro sport brakes/steering/suspension setup is the best out of any of the new audis i have tried (excludes new TT and R8)
The ealier 150bhps are a few mpg more frugal and gives a nice power spread. And for a tdi it actually sounds quite nice.
IF you can find one the B5/B5.5 1.9tdi quattros with the factory gmbh bodykits do look great. They are like hens teeth though. There is one in my village i have chinned the owner about selling it a few times. looks great and will give you 50mpg all day long.
And if you tweak it, http://www.audifans.net/modules.php?...=203035#203035
Struikies humble 110 A4 tdi is now running 218bhp and 331lbs/ft and thats on a circa 200k car!Last edited by istoo; 2 October 2009, 10:33.Comment
