Totally agree, and I've said it so many times. I can't believe the forum is supporting the group buy of chinese cloned tools! It's theft guys, seriously.

I would much rather buy a genuine one, but at the moment 200 quid on a cable is not a luxory I can afford!
BUT, when I can afford one, I will definitly be getting one

One of the last bumps before I see who's who and what's what for getting an order placed - just one more person would drop the price a little bit!

Yadda yadda .. theft of intelligence, same can be applied to mp3's, recording a song from the radio, buying that copy-bodykit/engine part. Anyway, should you be interested stick a post on here please and then i'd be looking to place an order early may for which i'd need full funds from you (paid into a business account) and as soon as they're here i'll post 'em out and take it from there, full contact details for me are and will be made available anytime to offer some confidence. all the best, jt

          I am interested.

Just to check, does the cable plug into a USB socket on the computer, and do I need the 2x2 adaptor to attach the other end of the cable to the car (I have an ABY if it makes any difference)?

          Thanks

            Hi Mate,

Yes, it's USB and as it doesn't come with the 2+2 adaptor i've been quoted these at $4.

The only car i've heard vagcom struggle with is the 2.6 V6, but that was sorted when they moved on from version 311 - considering this is version 908 it's come on quite a bit, with features like holding your curser over a figure to be then advised on what the range is for that sensor. v clever imo

I'm not sure how this vagcom/cable stuff works as I just have one of those basic cheapo scanners that reads the codes.

How does this differ and what else would I need to use this instead (apart from a laptop)? Is this just a case of plug and play?

I bought a cable off ebay a while ago that came with the vagcom software but it was just the un registered version you can get off the ross tech website. This is great for looking at fault codes if there is only one but hides the rest.

Is this cable one that unlocks the software for full use?

Will it work better with my coupe 2.0 16v? I have tried reading codes off this and it has never picked any up even with sensors un plugged etc where it should.

                  Thanks

                  Jim

Yes, in short, this is a chinese copy/clone of the original ross-tech cable, which works with the version 908 of their software (you do, however, have to use the software shipped with the cable (if they don't send the software i have it available). due to it being a cloned cable you can't update the software all the time - however, considering v908 covers the Audi R8 amongst others, I can't see any changes needed for a few years yet - (considering I still keep version 311 on my laptop too)

I can't guarantee your life will be better or your car diagnostics will be forever improved, but, I can tell you that this is the latest diagnostics kit available (other than the beta version) and should work much (much!) better than the current versions available on the likes of eBay etc.

                    So, we have:

                    1) Jonathan (me)
                    2) Colesy
                    3) dest
                    4) nip
                    5) coupewannabes2 ??
                    6) ....???
                    7) .....???

I've had a few PM's from people, but if you would be ok to add your name to this list and then at the end of the week i'll be in touch to confirm numbers and the costs, once all that's agreed we'll then move onto payment (paid into my business bank account) and then i'll be placing the order, once they're here i'll obviously let you know of any customs charges should that happen (be prepared for it and if it doesn't happen then happy days)

Please also let me know how many of you want the 2+2 adaptors with these.

I can provide a *little* technical support for these as I know the product, however, it is limited and all done in the best interests.

I will test each cable prior to me sending them out, as any potential issues can be dealt with quicker. I have available immediately a VW Golf MK4, Audi A6 2.7t and a 20v coupe quattro.

Ok so just to confirm costs you'll be looking at around $30-32 per unit plus the $20 shipping devided by the No. of people placing an order, plus any tax's.

                      So for 5 people ordering $32 + $4 = $36+tax's ??? Am i correct?

What does this work out aprox in GBP (£) ?

                                Hi there,
Apologies for the huge delays, i've been working away and just not had 5 mins.

I'm placing an order for 3x of these now so will be in touch shortly ...

Sorry it's taken me so long to get around to getting this sorted, however, i've just sent payment across for these so hopefully they will be here by this time next week.
