good work! Unfortunately I don't have 10k spare to do such a trick. It's a right bargain though

Yeah I'll have to change my username now. I haven't arranged picking it up yet - probably sometime next week. Apparantly I was the only one who actually went to see the car. I forgot to mention the air con wasn't working either & the engine bay is nowhere near as clean as your's Dean! Now RS2'less

I picked up the RS2 today
& somebody's picking up the S2 tomorrow. There's a few things need fixing but nothing too serious I don't think:
Something is rubbing on the rear brakes & the handbrake doesn't work. It's been standing for a few months & has done hardly any miles since the rear discs, pads & handbrake shoes were replaced. RS2 handbrake failure is quite common isn't it ? It sounds like part of the mechanism may have corroded while it wasn't being driven ?
Aircon doesn't work (no a/c belt fitted).
Factory alarm & immobiliser not working (no 'honk' from alarm & no dash light for immo). There's an aftermarket immo fitted which doesn't appear to work.
Apart from that everything else appears in order. There's no signs of it being chipped & the bodywork looks untouched. I haven't really hammered it yet as I don't like the sound of those brakes rubbing. Any experts on RS2 rear brakes ?
Incidentally I got a Parkers valuation from hpi - over £17k for 74k miles in excellent condition.Last edited by Pete_RS2; 21 August 2004, 19:59.Now RS2'less

Hi Peter,
Its certainly an RS2 of that mileage for a bargain price, even if you have to get a few things put right ! Hope you really enjoy it.
Porsche calipers are notorious for getting a corrosion type reaction between the backing plates and the caliper itself which causes the pads to stick on. I had this badly on our old 944 fronts so this could be the problem.
Our own RS2 handbrake was really c**p as previously advertised by alomost veery other owner. However when I had the brakes upgraded (Big red) I was advised to get the handbrake cables and the cable guides changed at the same time. Result was/is a perfect handbrake - holds car on first click !
Aircon problems can be very expensive to fix, and sounds like bad news if its been disconnected.
Our car is similarly 'flat' below 3500 and nothing really happens until just over 4. However I'm happy to keep it stock and just drive around it.
What impresses me is how solid this 10 year old car is. Still not sure what to change it for... so it staysDave
