3B and ABY seats are not the same, the release mechanism is on opposite sides

Blimey, I did not know that
Would this explain why my spare cloth trim has a passenger seat release on the wrong side ?
For what this cost me so far I could have bought an S2

3B seats will fit ABY's and ABY seats will fit 3B's, the levers can be swapped round very easily.

As long as you can weld right? My 3B seats do not have the rear swivel bracket for the release rod on the other side. They do have the location points at the front for the screw on part though.

Yup you need to atach the rear swivel loop on the other side if you swap them, welding is easiest but you could get creative and bend a little bit of flat bar and drill and bolt it.

I think on the 3b it is on the outside to clear to cat bulge.

Yes your right the rear swivel bracket needs to be chopped off then tacked onto the other side, I take being able to weld for granted now I can. Though as Andy points out it can be done without welding, either with a couple of screws or with a longer peice of steel or alloy twisted 90 degrees then jubile clipped on to the bar, I did the latter before I had access to welding equipment.
