Uprated Clutches for 3B and Quattros

At last I have some news on the uprated clutches for the 3B type flywheel and quattros (WR, MB and RR)

I requested information and spec on the various compound used and here is the breakdown.

    CARBON
    Life expectancy 50-70th
    Bites better than Kevlar
    Medium abrasion caracteristics
    Smooth engagement
    Suitable for every day use
    Torque handling similar to Kevlar

    KEVLAR
    Longest life expectancy
    Slip more than fiber carbon
    Capable of 400 lbs
    Low abrasion
    Suitable for every day use
    Smooth engagement

    Ceramic copper (with springs)
    Lower life 10-50th
    Can handle up 700lbs
    High abrasion
    Harsher engagement
Quite suitable for every day use

PLEASE NOTE: life expectancy is for guidelines only and it is dependant on the driver and abusement.

Pressure plates will be supplied and uprated.

The cost of these is not finalised as it is dependant on quantities which then is reflected on shipping, Customs and of course exchange rates.
If you are interested on a group buy please PM me with which type you are considering.

Hey Aelred, Steve called me earlier about this, I reckon a carbon one for me. That means i can give it some abuse every now and then for 1/4 mile sprints etc, but most of the time it will be used on the road.

Yes, if we can get 10 people (6 at present) I anticipate the cost for the multi paddle copper/ceramic one to be in the low £300, carbon ones low to mid £300 (slightly more expensive).

Fibre Carbon for me, I don't like the idea of a binary clutch in rush hour traffic..

I was going to get a copper one from Toms group buy as he could get them for $175 - what is the difference between his GP and and these ones?

What is the cost breakdown of the clutch and pressure plate?

                        Thanks

This is the same group buy, I orginised it as Tom could not get in touch with the supplier and they wanted samples I arranged these to them.
It was decided as the pressure plates modified in the UK were difficult to balance (There a thread about this somewhere) to purchase friction materials and uprated pressure plates from Clutchnet

Not sure! My clutch hasn't slipped and I would need a 3B Flywheel, as I have an ABY just now - My plans are for 500bhp soon and 600bhp after that, so that will bound to need a better clutch than the modified "precision" clutch.

Aelred - what sort of clutches have you used in the past for big power cars? What sort of wear have you seen on different clutches? Is a custom ali flywheel, with steel insert that can be replaced, the way to go with copper?

                              Doug,

The pressure plates are supplied by clutchnet as part of the purchase.

The clutches to handle big BHP have to be copper/ceramic, the clutchnet ones will handle up to 700 BHP (so they tell me). with about the same torque, is the torque and not so much the BHP. For more bhp you probably have to use multi plate ones, these are very binary and wear very quickly, The best multiplate ones are carbon and they are superb but the cost is of these is well over a thousand pounds getting close to two thousand, at the end of the day everything is what you gain in one hand you loose on the other. I have always use the single plate copper/ceramic ones and with springs they are fairly user friendly. They are more abrasive and I think a custom flywheel with insert is a good idea (ie.: alloy flywheels) so you replace the steel insert.
