Hello!
Usually people ask me to create wiring harnesses or to do complete wiring of a car for race purproses using vems, motec and other standalone ECUs. This includes creating a VEMS ecu for the specific application and tuning it as well. A lot of people are using OEM ECUs and OEM wiring harnesses which are usually really old and most of the wires are oxidized, the solders are cracked, the insulations are hardened or cracked or they are completely gone. In some cases people try to fix this but due to the lack of proper knowledge about wiring, they are doing more bad than good.
For an ECU it is mandatory to have proper signal from the sensors and to drive the solenoids, coils, etc. properly. A damaged wiring harness can make your life miserable by creating intermittent issues with the car, or at the worst case can damage the ECU or the engine itself.
In a tuned or even a stock car it is really important to have proper wiring just as it is important to have proper rods, pistons or a proper head gasket
In the near future I am going to be offering complete wiring harnesses for 20VT engines. I think there is a demand for these because I did not see a lot of wiring harnesses that are in an actual good condition and even if you can find one, the price of those are insane, even if they are damaged already. Currently there are preparation for mass producing these harnesses.
