the evo1 has a slightly different stroke to the 2.5, as well as different cams and exhaust manifold, it make the engine alot more rev happy than the 2.5.
I personally think mercedes's power figure may be slightly conservative, as this car will happily sit on the bumper of standard scooby imprezza's

I too considered a standard 2.5 but they're rarer than S2s and I didn't even look into the cost of fixing one if it went wrong... [/QUOTE]
the normal 2.3's & 2.5's are no more expensive to run than a S2,
the only really pricey thing that can go wrong is the rear diff, which is hydrolic locking as well as 40% mechanical LSD, They only die if they've had lots of abuse though. The 2.3 had timing chain problems because they were only a single row chain & had a crap tensioning system, whereas the 2.5 had a duplex chain etc.
The parts for the evo1 are big money, (mot many parts shared with the 2.3 or 2.5), the front splitter you can see cost graeme £806.00

Cheers Steve for clarifying. These cars always remind me of late 80s early 90s DTM which was awesome motorsport. Good luck to your friend to sell it. I hope that such a rare car finds a decent home.
