  • Next Project Help

Guys you probably have seen my 'Project Engine' thread.

I have been having a think.

I did place on there that my next project could be an AC cobra with a 4WD system and a Audi V8.

I have had another think and came up with this too.

Buy another S2 and use that as my daily driver and the (sorry) strip the CQ20 and turn it into a bit of a track day monster. Reason for buying another car is I need one evry day to get to work and I don't like driving the other halfs PT.

Help me out with a show of hands or some twists on the above ideas. I am brainstorming at the moment for a Jan/Feb next year start.

    Cheers

    Aaron

Ditto with the Cobra just logistcally it will be a pain to do a 4WD system. Or would it just be better to keep it stock but throw an Audi V8 in there.

Regarding the AWD, where theres a will theres a way!

But if you were to get the Cobra and stuck in a modded V8 lump, im sure you would still have a great amount of fun even if it remains RWD.

Don’t ruin a cobra with an Audi drivetrain.

                My opinion.

A mate of mine is selling his Cobra rep, its a really wide arched one, tubular spaceframe chassis, looks great but needs some work done on the paint, small block chevy is pretty healthy, has Jag IRS rear with lim slip etc, bit of a monster

If I do a Cobra I will be building it from the chassis up so I get it the way I want it. I don't want to have to buy one and then spend alot more on getting the bits I am after on it cos when I do get one I am going to go the whole hog

                              The Decision Is Made

Right guys I have made my Decision and updated my car targets in life.

At the begining of next year I will get my hands on an S2 and track prep the CQ20 that I have now.

The S2 will stay standard except for a brake upgrade and a bit of a remap.:mischeif:

My thing now guys is how much weight can I save?

Please can you add to this list and a rough guesstimate on price so that I can start working things out.

                              1. CarbonF Bonnet
                              2. CarbonF Wings
                              3. Strip Interior ( cost nothing)
                              4. Lose sunroof.
                              5. Roll Cage.
                              6. Move bits to boot for weight distribution (RAD and Battery)
                              7. Light weight alloy wheels
                              8. Smaller front lights (for air flow to filter etc)
                              9. Remove ABS
10.Lose Dash and replace with lightweight metal sheet.
                              11. Lose Carpet
                              12. Race light Seats
                              13. Guages Galore
                              14. Plastic windows

Lots of other bits in my head. Does anyone know what the weight saving of these parts is so that I can take it off the weight I have now and add the replacement bits weight to give me a rough idea on savings

                              Cheers

                              Aaron
(This may take me a while but I will get there)
(The Cobra will have to wait until I am 35 )
