Displaying stuff on the AutoCheck display

I have some clocks to play with now (cheers s2advant). I have also taken some photos of the display so that I could work out the resolution. The good news is that it is 32 x 32, the bad news is I still don't know if I can control it (I am hopeful and have not been beaten yet by electronic problems).

So here's the challenge - Lets see your ideas for how you would like to display boost pressure. I've had a very quick go to start you off.

    Display Boost s.JPG

I used Excel and Power Point due to lack of software but I'm sure there are some clever bods out there who can use some clever software packages.

The simple rules are a grid of 32 x 32 squares which can be either orange or red (I'm not yet sure if they can be red and orange at the same time. Will check when I look at the display.

As I said in the other thread, first of I will make something to display Boost, then I will look at other feeds. I still have no clue as to how I am going to splice in my device, hence how easy it will be to fit but I will make it as easy as possible.

    Let the art begin...

can you please give us a yellow matrix picture so we can paint on them with the paint program? This one you posted cant quite work well since the PSI values must go to the 20 region! So the number 2 will not fit! The bar thing is a good idea but also dont know if it can display 2 colors at once! I think the standard functions are in one color each time!

thing is a bit more accurate you have for 1 bar 14 PSI but the Bar is better at least in the graph display! In the Digital data display i think someone should be able to choose between PSI and Bar!

                autocheck display for boost

I wonder if a 'bar' type chart display would be clearer at a glance than a small digital needle that's moving ?
Maybe have a new 'bar' every 0.5 bar (pressure) with 5 callibrated points on each 'bar'. So 0.5 bar (pressure) would be 1 full 'bar' and 2.1 bar (pressure) would be 4 and a fifth 'bars'.
You could toggle between that and the numerical display.

                Sorry- no pics to illustrate

I thnk that with the Bars would be difficult to read! Maybe someone could make a bar graph and set max points! so when the "Bar-Pressure" is ok then it only shows bars, but if it goes higher then it shows a Warning Sign!

The Digital Number display is one way or another a Must! The Round clock design is nice when you want to have something that moves when going on throttle and have an approx. value! The Warning Signal is Always a Must too!

I think you'd need something clear & easy to read - remember it's not a big screen!
A single pixel line is tiny!

and a template in excel if anyone else wants to play...

Thats right! So must the Digital number display be! Still think that the Graph display is also something nice! Not all the time you are watching at the exact Boost!

A very good option is also if you can completely switch it off and on on Demand! So not all the time you see numbers and graphs going on! (It is an early point to want a button to switch it off since it cannt be switched on but its good to know...)

Could we replace all the "expensive" warning symbols with a simple credit card alert?

it also depends how quick the screen will refresh as to what is used
