One very important question I have for all the hi power guys. I need to know what main and rod bearing you use ? I kneed to know becouse the endurance reace will be very hard on the bearings. If posible give me the name and part number of the bearings and place where to get them.

I think RS2 Main bearings are used by soem of the big power guys because iirc they have a hardened finish on them that normal S2's do not have.....

                  Could be misinformed though??

I have heard it is the best to use TDi ones.

The way I've understood this issue is that all ABY and all ADU engines share the same hardened rod shell bearings... Seems also that some of the very last batches of 3B engines also got fitted with these uprated bearings...

                        Albert

For main bearings I have looked at the Glyco shells and the OEM RS2 shells. I prefer the OEM RS2 shells (034198491C).

In the pic the Glycos are on the left and the RS2 shells on the right.

Looking at the lower shells (the two in the middle), I like those half grooves that the RS2 shells have against the Glyco's plain shell, IMHO these will carry better oil flow to the lower shell, giving more oil to the main journal drilling supplying the big ends than the glycos would, not quite 360 degree oiling but close.

The lower (load bearing) RS2 shells also look to be made of a different (Harder?) material.

I haven't seen any other makes like KS or Clevite, but I reckon that in this case OEM are better.

I havent decided what rod bearing to use yet, as both the OEM and Glyco use hardened sputter type hardened top shells.

Forgot to mention that one advantage of the Glyco is they offer the choice of normal washer type thrust bearings or integral thrusts if you want them.

The main bearings I pulled out of my 93 ABY block were the same as the RS2 mains.....same P#

Not sure about the rod bearings though, I'll have to check as I still have them knocking about somewhere.

Very nice collection of parts there Albert, and I love the bodyshell preparation. A stripped shell is the only place to start for a properly modified all-out track car. All the best of luck with this project - please keep us posted on the progress.
