A bit of an update.First off my new fuel tank

I managed to find a second hand pair of Recaro profi spa's

The fuel tank just needs the mounts welded to it and it's finished

      Coilover conversion in place

      coolant pipes in place

decide to use the S4 steering column(shortened by 6cm) because of clearance issues with the Wilwood pedal box

and now money is running low i've started back on the body work

looking really good those recaros are a nice period touch, remember seeing them in the original sport q rally cars, just with a stitched 'Stig' on the cover near the belt holes.

This looks like it's going to be a monthly update kind of thread with the way progress is going
I actually managed to win a bid on E-bay,Porsche boxter calipers for the rear are going to be fitted with Saab turbo front discs(280mmx20mm apec part no.dsk579)

Nearly finished the mounting for the radiator

Now dummy fitting the engine and gearbox to make sure everything fits(6 speed 100/s4 box being about 1" shorter than the type 85 cq 5 speed box)

The removal of the original engine mounts and new engine and gear box mount fabrication

And its all blood sweat and tears(well blood and sweat i didn't cry not even a little bit)
            new modifications to my hand

The rear end is going to be like the rally cars and not have a bumper

I hope you dont mind i ask these questions:

why did you rebuild the engine mounts?

And is the front bars OEM bits? (sport quattro)
Im thinking of doing the same too mine, but people tell me that it makes chassie not crash absorbing.

Good luck, and may force be with you .
I Own a Type 85 Coupe Quattro, but its currently in the garage getting teard apart.

When i went to line up the engine with the original mounts the o/s mount was a perfect place but the n/s mount was about 1-2" out(back from mount)also the gearbox mounts from the 100/S4 6 speed box are totally different to the type 85 CQ,the bars from the strut tower to the front chassis are original sport quattro but i may have to leave these out due to turbo clearance

                          Update time
I started to modify the tansmission tunnel because the linkage at the gear box end was fouling the body work

                          The 100/S4 gear lever modified

Then I decided to make a short shifter

The setector rods new tunnel + heater modification

                          Wilwood pedal box

And finally started to make the lower dashboard
