      Engine lifts are for wimps!
You can see from my facial expression after we lifted the engine, I had no back pain at all.

Yeah. The workshop is great. Lots of dust everywhere, perfect for taking engines apart.

Bo had a laugh at my toolkit when I arrived. Crowbar, hammer, mallet, cold chisel, hacksaw, scaffold bar, and so on..... All useful stuff though, eh Bo?

          sod the no hoist thing
I just bought one (the missus just stared at it and rolled her eyes). can't imagine me trying to take my engine out without it. not without doing myself and the engine a bit of damage anyway.

excellent thread Bo. always happy seeing some nutter doing these things before me.

Only joking Jon. An I5 block isn't that bad with two of you. If you clear the engine bay you can get in along side it easier to lift it.

I did insist on removing the clutch, flywheel, pistons, rods and crank before I left Bo and Arum to lift that lot into Bo's boot.

Just got a load of stuff back form the machine shop.

Looks so much nicer now that its been blasted.

Now i just need to decide on what colour to paint it all with as it will go rusty in days if its left untreated.

                sIMG_3135.JPG

Am picking up the block tomorrow tow, its just had a re hone.

p.s all the above parts bead blasted only cost ÂŁ15 which i thought was a propper bargain as they were very dirty and covered in oil.

ÂŁ15?! Blimey. They saw you coming. Nice work Bo.
There's not too much that will rust there, as it is mostly alloy. The front pulley will be the worst thing, that will rust fast.

                          Little update,

Block has now been thoroughly cleaned and painted.
So have all the bits that where blasted.

Just waiting on a few gaskets and Glyco bearings from Germany and then once i get all the other bits from the UK it will be ready for the rebuild.

                                - not quite, but sort off.

Not sure on cost yet, it will be well worth it though.
