It's wrinkle paint, used a lot by the yanks, Mark Halligan, Jeffer and Doug_RS2 started the forum craze for it.

I was just gonna do it all in heat resistant silver enamel, but the paint i bought looks more like primer so i got some red stuff too.

No real colour coding as such, i just wanted something that would show up oil leaks.. and i haven't deiced on the colour of the head yet.
Most likely just silver/gray.

The ignition lead cover is bright red with 20V TURBO in wrinkle black like the cam cover. That took days to get right
Its still drying will post picks tomorrow.

Whats the recipe for these then Bo?

Ok Bo, thought you were maybe doing black for oily bits, blueish for cooling/water, red for hot bits etc,etc, maybe do that myself at a later date

Have started stripping the head now too.

Just need to borrow and Valve compression tool to remove the Valves and then it will be off to the machine shop for hot taking and VG removal.

Bo did you do all the painting yourself? ( the sump and parts ) If so any tips and what paint did you use?

Yeah, did all the painting myself.

I used ebay to get paints. They where all Heat resistant Spray paints that do not require baking in an oven.

Just have a search im sure you can find something. Cant remember the different makes.

Been looking at some VHT paints I'm looking for some different colours than the norm

But good results if it's out of a can well done mate, I wish they did wrinkle paint in other colours than red and black

Have now stripped all the valve gear too.

They all came out fairly easily apart form one of the inlet valves that got a bit cough at the retainer end. Now it has a few scars. It must be slightly bent right at the tip.

Luckily someone has offered to send me a replacement.

Next step is to take it to the machine shop for hot tanking and Valve Guide removal.

Then it will be ready for a couple of coats of paint
