Nice work bo although I'm not sure about that mod. Looks like you've taken a lot of material off that bolt and as I found out at the 'ring last year, these bolts do a LOT of work and are also stretch bolts so require 110Nm + 90deg to tighten. Ideally these should be replaced. If you don't then you risk them coming lose and if undeteceted that could be

Yeah fair enough. - i did get them torqued to 100NM which is what i thought it was but i didnt replace them.
If any one has any other ideas please let me know.
Make sure you don't forget the 90deg too, this is what I did and had all 4 come loose at the 'ring, not good when you're hitting 140+. Steering felt a little vaguer than normal so if it all gets a bit sloppy then it's worth jacking eveything up and checking it all out.
Clearnace issue appers to be approx 5mm, looks like the brackets need the calliper mounting holes rotated around by a couple of degrees to give clearance. Where did you get the brackets? Are they custom made? Other option is to take the material off the bracket but I can't say I'd be happy doing either.

Yeah that had crossed my mind, The custom bracket could easily take that but the other (black) bracket that bolts to it couldnt so grinding them is not really an option. Im going to have a look for some normal bolts tomorrow from the hardware store. If i get something heavy duty it should do the trick, i will use locktite too on the nuts.
I wonder how Ben got round this problem when he fitted his...
Got a lot planned this weekend.
Car is packed with the new engine and all the internals.
Cant believe how much room it all takes up. Its about 4 big boxes just with parts! Then the head, and the block and the flywheel and the turbo and the clutch the list goes on and on, anyway. It all fits and with Stu's help ill hopefully get the engine rebuilt this weekend.
Started on Friday and gave the block a good clean as it had been sitting covered up for a couple of months:
Then dried it out with some fire power :
Followed by missives of WD40.
While the block cooled down i rebuilt the oil pump using redline assembly lube:
The next day Stu and Steph turned up and we rebuilt the bottom end.
Starting with crank, rear seal and oil pump:
The Rods and pistons were then fitted:
Scat rods are currently only torqued to 30ftlb which i thought sounded a little low, i have since inquired elsewhere to try and obtain the correct settings.
Then out came the head, this i rebuilt about 2 months ago, took of the cam over to double check everything prior to fitting:
Skimmed bottom, seated valves, ported and polished Exhaust ports and ported but ruff inlet ports:
Also note that the EM studs are still all at full length. I only noticed that some dont fit the RS2 EM at that length after the head was fitted.
Popped in to position:
Shortened the studs and got the EM fitted, took over 3 hours
Then bolted on the turbo and a few more parts:
All in all it took a couple of days to put together but it seams to be coming together ok.
I just need to order a few more gaskets and some other bits and bobs before i can finish building it properly, also i think the sump needs to come off again to increase the torque on the ARP2000's in the scat rods.
So far this is the last pic:
Next on the list if getting a new exhaust made up, hopefully 3.5" downpipe in to a 3" system with little flow restriction.
