Are you going to install gearbox oil cooler?
I'm also going to use DSY box.Leave a comment:

Thanks to Sal for the various bits and pieces, my DSY gearbox swap is now pretty much complete.

Here’s why the DSY/B5 S4 gearbox mounts were no use. The gearbox must sit much higher relative to the subframe in an S4.
Good job Sal had the correct ones in stock.

I'm hoping it will be ready for the Ring, but it hasn't been booked a place on the ferry in March. The evenings between now and then are too cold, dark and damp, and time at weekends is limited. But I do have 2 more trips planned for later in the year, so far. :mischeif:
Oil pick-up pipe, windage tray and a few other bits and pieces went in the dishwasher.
I tried all asort of angles, but the sump just wouldn't quite go in there, so I had to finish cleaning that by hand.
Did someone say curry?

Well, with the wind and rain outside I spent a few hours tinkering in the garage yesterday.
I picked up the locking plate for the oil pick-up pipe on Saturday, so that could go on with the windage tray.

It was good to finally get the sump on.

New water pump needed a lick of paint to bring up to standard.

Thanks for the offer of help Bo.
This thing is starting to look pretty heavy again.

I need to get cracking on the head rebuild. Now, where's my valve spring compressor?

Thats a shame Stu. Always fighting the weather a.
Hopefully you can get it fitted in alright, otherwise i can pop up sometime to give you a hand lifting.

I attempted to fit the gearbox in to the car today, before it started to rain again.
Here's the gearbox ready to be lifted in to place.

I had two problems:
The first problem was the gearbox mounts, it looks like I have the wrong ones. I have the mounts that came with the DSY gearbox, but I think I need the mounts from a CGR. The mounts I have would make the gearbox sit way too high in the car.
The other problem was it started to pỉss down with rain again, so outside play was yet again halted.

I'm using hardened upper and lower big-end shells as it has been said that there may be some benefit in higher horsepower engines, so I figured it wouldn't do any harm.
Bore is stock 81mm, with just a re-hone, hence the wear at the top of the bore.
Progress on the engine has been put on hold, as I forgot to order a new locking plate for the oil pick-up pipe, and I've now been told this part is on back order.
