Well, the golf has been SORN for a few months waiting for me to get all the parts together ready for its latest incarnation.

Its going Haldex 4wd! Got the bits and im now just waiting for work to slow down a little so i can actually spend some time doing it! I have had ongoing customers projects which have taken priority.

        More details later on

            Bit more time now!

Well, car is in workshop and so far i have removed the fuel tank. Last thing i want to do is catch the thing on fire with a load of fuel onboard!

Plan is to cut out spare wheel well and flatten, the 4x4 rear suspension bolts straight in, but one of the brackets is NLA so will have to fab something for that. I also have the trans tunnel to cut out and replace with the deeper syncro item.

Parts i have i stock so far...

TT/S3 6 speed 02M gearbox, fidanza flywheel and clutch
            TT/S3 propshaft
TT/S3 rear haldex diff with SQSracing manual haldex controller

The haldex controller is a nice bit of kit, its basically a valve that you can adjust to regulate the amount of torque/power to the rear wheels from 0%-50%
Got a feeling it may get set for 50-50 split for some good drifting

Once the tunnel is in place and the prop/diff is in, i can then think about how on earth i will get an exhaust to fit. going for twin 1.5" down thru the car going into 3" back box. shoudl give me a bit better ground clearance

boot floor chopped out now and rear beam stripped of old diff mounts. rear beam mountings arrived yesterday, they were on backorder with no date so i was a bit nervous to see if they would even arrive!! 78 quid each!! OMG

just waiting for dutchbuild.com to send me the haldex fitting kit now, well OK im not really just waiting for that

sounds good. will help with the power a bit.

my mate is just finishing his haldex conversion in his mk1. got the engine, 6 speed, prop and diff sorted now. he was making a spit so he can roll the car over last night.

he has made the rear frame to mount the diff not using the dutchdub stuff other than the mount for the 02m. i got that some years ago when doin gthe corrado. the exhaust looks quite tight but obviously the bulkhead and rack have had to be changed for the mk1. he's using mk2 power steering rack you see.

Well, its been a long time since i have had chance to work on it. Been doing long days, 6 days a week for too long. New member of staff starting next week that shoudl help me have a bit more time to do projects.

Rear beam has had the dutchbuild haldex fitting kit welded in. Rear suspension arms/beam have been stripped/powder coated and poly bushed and all bolted in. Diff is bolted in and the custom driveshafts are fitted. Had to fabricate the rear most mounting bush bracket, it is NLA and i couldnt find one anywhere. But its sorted now.

Rear brakes are sorted with new hoses, hard lines, R32 rear calipers mounted on custom brackets gripping on 280x22mm discs (corrado 16v fronts!)

Today i spent my day off at work cutting the golf up a bit more. Cut out the old trans tunnel and then cutting up the syncro one ready to weld into place. It doesnt fit too badly considering how hard it was to do! Needs a little bit of trimming before welding into place and also need to order some new handbrake cable guide tubes as i put the grinder through them, doh.

                  Will add some pics laters

i had a 2nd hand back end of a syncro, but it looks much more work than i could manage to do without getting in a bodyshop to do.

new floor sections went NLA june last year

The car wont be for evryday use, so dont care about the spare wheel or OEM fuel tank
