Project ABY S2 Rebuild and upgrade

Finally made a start on the s2 today, as i now have a month off im hoping to get stuck into this and move it along quickly, im really glad the decission was made to totally strip the car as some of the things we unearthed today need attention!
Ill start with some engine pics:

The bottom sprocket had pretty much disintegrated so it has been replaced with a new item.

This looks like the reason the car dropped the cambelt, is that washer suppossed to be there? looks like a dodgy repaire to me.

In need of some serious elbow greese an plentty of gunk!

    S2 minus front end.
Next onto the interior after sitting for nearly 2 years it smelt pretty bad the seats are pretty good and the door cards are okay need a thougrough clean.
    Before removal:

    Drivers bolster showing its age:

    Carpet is definatly coming out:

Duncan sitting down on the job:

Ball joint has totally had it!

Carpet is removed to reveal the source of the stink, we have a pond in the car!

You're a brave man. Reminds me of when I stripped and rebuilt my 205 - can be a bit over-whelming when you are in the beginning stage as there are so many parts to be inspected and repaired/replaced. But it's very satisfying when everything is back together and working as new!

The picture for where you say it looks like the cause of the cambelt drop, I wouldn't agree that adjuster is purely for the PAS belt.

The cambelt on a 3B tensions via the waterpump and on the roller for an ABY which this engine seems to be.

Rained off today so i had a bash at renevating some of the old trim.

Im going to paint the outer trim gloss black and the rings in aluminium, the grill was supposed to go black but i picked up the wrong tin so it is now dark grey i may change it to black depending on the final look.

A quick update, i havnt made as much progress as i would have liked due to financial commitments, mainly been stripping the car ready for new parts, what a job removing the engine! not reccomended for a a total novice like me, luckily im sharing a lockup with 2 other people in the know so help was at hand
                      Japanese neighbours.

                      Ready for rebuild

One of the engine mounts was sheared from the block, also found 2x snapped valves
                      from the cambelt failure.

I will add more photos at the weekend i also have a pile of parts coming up for sale will list photos and pics asap.
