Dug the car out of the garage after being tucked up all winter. Changed the dry sump belt and cambelt as I have every year. Found out that the cam timing on the inlet cam vernier had slipped so put that right. It explained the drop off in performance last year.
Fitted the top mounts from Albert which seem to have increased the steering self centering and weight.

Got the car all road legal again and had a mate come up for the weekend to do some filming of the car. Cant wait to see what he comes up with as he is a very talented chap!

Finished up the weekend going to the local drag racing which is always a fun day out

Managed a personal best and get the cars first 10 second run at 10.79 @ 128mph. Also managed to run 132mph a few times which shows the power is back where it should be. So very happy all round with the car.
On board video of the 10 second run.

Not put an update on here for ages. Used the car all summer on the road and put a good few miles onto it even had it on the motorway and it cools no problem even in the hottest weather. Have to run the cooling fans all the time but I understand the rally cross cars also have to do this with the rear radiator.
Had it up to Hartside cafe on top of the Pennines a few times to meet up with a few mates:

Only took the car to one show this summer the Cumbria VAG show which was good fun and local so got to drive it there and back. Managed to pick up best engineering which I was chuffed with as its 3 years since the car was built now.

Nice video of the show here with some footage of the car.
I got around to building up my second set of BBS E50 wheels. Had the centres blasted and painted them up in proper BBS gold. New BBS 3" lips and 6" barrels with brand new insets, seals and titanium bolts.

Fitted my cut slicks on them and used the car at ten of the best at Elvington. Managed to finish in the top 20 on the handling out of 120 cars which I was chuffed with. Had an alternator issue which held the car back so only ran 154mph in the standing kilometer.

I also used the car twice at the local drag racing at Kirkbride. The first event in July I managed to seize up 1st to 2nd gear selector collar. That lead to me getting a rebuild kit frpm JHM in America with new collar and all new synchro's. The gearbox has been fine since. That was the only mechanical failure of the year. The engine remains strong after 3 years of being hammered off the limiter on most outings.
So its away under its cover for winter waiting for another years use next year. I am trying to get some videos sorted out off Facebook and my on board camera but struggling with that at the moment.Leave a comment:

Its quite fast on the road yes! I ran it over a weigh bridge and it was 1200kg on the nose. That's as it sit in the pictures with all fluids etc.Leave a comment:

Decided it was time to get the car on the road so it could be used without having to trailer it and drive big distances to venues/ shows.
First job was to fit the old Mercedes wheels back on as I didn't fancy risking one of the sets of BBS wheels on the road. I got a set of Bridgestone SO2's fitted to the Merc wheels which should be a good road trye and act as a wet tyre for any racing in the future.

The car was then taken down to Keith Edwards motors at Ulverston for an MOT. That enabled me to tax it for the first time!

So its been on the road for a week now and I have been doing a few small trips in it. All seems good so far. I fitted a centre mirror as the side mirrors are pretty useless! Also fixed up and re-fitted the rear radiator scoop as it wasn't cooling efficiently without it.

So hoping to rack up a few trouble free miles now and enjoy the nice weather!Leave a comment:
