They can modify the tooling for the std hose to make the ends whatever you want, mine was changed at both ends to suit the MAF and 3071 turbo. -
Good to hear the alternator rebuild went well. I've ordered some bits for mine since you posted up those links the other day
Was the MAF-turbo hose a bespoke job off Roose or do they have it available now? Sonic has the same one too IIRC?Leave a comment:

Update time! The S2 has been in the dog house recently due to a mis-fire that I'd struggled to diagnose. I changed the coil, plugs ( swapped to NGK's after all the bad press about Bosch plugs ), new rotor arm, cleaned dizzy cap and check all the HT leads, all with no success, turned out to the alternator was only kicking out 13.4 volts and was never charging the battery fully
I got a used AAN 120a alternator which I stripped and replaced the bearings and voltage regulator, fitted it today and all is good, 14.05v out of the alternator and no mis-fire
I had forgotten how quick it was when running right, I've burned £50 worth of V power this afternoon hooning around Derbyshire!
Still working on the upgrades, the 7A cam cover has been counter-bored to suit coil packs

Trimmed the coils down a little and did a trial build to make sure they seated correctly

Also got all the pipework to fit the RS4 MAF. The MAF-Turbo hose came from Roose and a couple of 90° elbows from Ebay. Roose have left the ends long so I can trim it to fit.

Maybe the sidewalls are softer on the PS3s? The sidewalls on my Conti SC3s are much softer than the previous Bridgestones, makes a big difference to the ride but on the flip side I have had to replace 2 tyres in the last year due to impact fractures from poor road surfaces etc
RE: the light rear and what suspension set-up are you running now?

Well the ride quality actually seems to have improved witht the 18" wheels
I was expecting to feel a difference with the bigger wheels and slight increase in weight but I wasn't expecting it to be an improvement. Perhaps premium tyres are the way forward
Big thaks to Kev ( Bambridge ) for the speedy delivery of wheel spacers which fitted like a glove

I need to sort out the handling next and I also have a grumbleing from the back end like Fatty. I'll be annoyed if it's a wheel bearing as they've only done about 8000miles. I've had the wheel alignmet checked a couple of time but there is still something wrong at the rear, when you chuck it into a corner it feels like it's steering from the rear, very oversteery. I can't feel any movement in anything so I'm going to have a check of the dampers when I fit the new springs.Leave a comment:

According to my bathroom scales they are only 1lb heavier than the 17's that came off, they were OZ Superturismos with Kuhmo tyres. Can't give you any feed back yet as I've not driven it yet
It wasn't until I fitted them that I realised I didn't have the spacers I needed, a quick PM to Bambridge and a set are in the post today

I like the A8s, they suit the B4 shape nicely. Have you noticed a difference in the ride with the extra weight of them compared to the 17s? IMHO you get what you pay for with tyres, so you should enjoy those PS3s.
whats next for the car then Andy?

After taking the 17" Bolero wheels off the S2 to fit on my new A6 I needed a new set of wheels. My brothers S2 runs 18" A8 sport wheels with H&R springs and handles so much better than mine, I decided this was the way to go. Wheels fitted today, H&R's will go on when I find time

I've fitted them with Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tyres, first time I've ever bought a 'premium' tyre, my wallet is still recovering as we speak, so I'm looking forward to seeing how they perform compared to the mid-range stuff I've used before.
Anybody looking for new tyres, Michelin have an offer on for July, buy 2 18" tyres and get £50 worth of Sainburys fuel vouchers, so I've got £100 to come back
made the purchase slightly more bareable!!

That's how I've got it set up and it works just fine, it was something Newsh said in the thread about pressurising the sump that made me think I should be running the one way valve.Remove the 1 way valve and block the pipe on the IM and remove the PCV valve. If using Motronic, you should keep the blue N80 valve connected electrically. If you still need the fuel tank breather connected then you can attach it directly to the IM or make something a little more complex up with the 1 way valve incorporated. PM, email or call if you need to

Have you tried it on the other crossmember? Is one crossmember RS2 and the other 3B or ABY? It should fit right up tight like the RS2 one does.
I'd take the Mark H mod hose off and just check the IC goes right up onto the X member pipe as if it just had the O ring. I always use an O ring as well anyway. When I fitted my RS2 IC way back, I put a big block of wood right across under it and jacked it into place before doing the bolts up.Leave a comment:

Even if I trim the hose, it won't come up any more as the mounting brkt on the intercooler is pulled up tight to the brkt on the crossmember. It looks like it would go a little higher on the other side by modifying the mounting brkt.
Looks like it's working well anyway, I fitted an air inlet temp gauge at the weekend and on the comute today I couldn't get it to go higher than 5°C above ambientLeave a comment:

Can you trim the silicone hoses any more to get the IC to move further up? Or use decent orients instead?Leave a comment:
