Fantastic work! Those A pillars are a nightmare on the pre galv urs, there was a drain hole under the screen rubber.. Lots and lots of waxoyl on those areas from underneath and it might not come through again :thumbs
Just a thought, sandblasting drives some of the rust into the metal, it looks clean but there's rust buried under the surface you can see, you can prove this by wiping some Trustan or similar rust cure product onto the surface, it'll turn black immediately, if you dont convert this rust it'll come back through in a year or 2 as tiny rust spots, I've had it happen on bike tanks and mudguards, even when etch primed, 2K base and clear both sides. You MUST convert any rust, visible or invisible, with a rust cure product. Your resto will then last as long as you do, which in your case is quite a while
Really? I was under the impression that after 86 or so they were, but maybe just some of the panels then, mine's an 84 and I've owned it since about 86. No Galv at all just waxoyl.
Yes I remember the talk of after "86, but from what I remember they never changed as turned out.
Trust me my "87 rusts like a buugger, also the "90 20v ur I look after is just as bad!
They were alot better than the other cars Audi produced at the time (100 was exception as was galved) All down to the hand built aspect.
