    Project codename: Bottomless pit.

Well, I've owned my S2 Avant since the middle of July last year, and as time has gone on while I've owned it, I've picked up on certain things I dont like or would like to upgrade, pretty much making it a rolling project now.

After some research on here and at an Audi dealer, I've found out that my particular Avant was one of the very first batch of 15 that arrived in the UK and was an ex-demonstrator at Nevis Garage in Fort William.

How it was when I bought it:

Old stereo, replaced by an iPod compatible Alpine unit, a few weeks after:

New 18" RS4 replica's and clear side repeaters fitted in August, clear front indicators soon followed:

Gash MAF sensor mesh found when fitting Pipercross panel filter:

A very disappointing rolling road result in December(?) resulting in rigging up a makeshift boost gauge. 0.4 bar was all it was boosting at, a failed WGFV was to blame and it felt like a brand new car again:

A minor misjudgement while trying to reverse in the pitch black, resulted in this. Luckily, the only damage done was a piece of trim. Oops :

New Milltek exhaust and boost gauge pictures seem to have bizarrely disappeared off Photobucket so I'll put them up on here ASAP.

For now, a nice set of black Samco boost hoses, MarkH intercooler mod, blackout B4 grille and a new lambda sensor are all on order, then hopefully another rolling road day to see how much better its running. Eventually, I'd like to go for around 300bhp, but sorting the surface rust after the winter takes priority.

Just keep telling yourself Mark, that the S2 is costing you a lot less then you would lose in depreciation every year on a newer car!
I have a log of what I've spent in the last 18 months of ownership, and that's mainly repair work, no real mods, and its well over £3k and that's doing all the work myself!

But, just think, one year of ownership of say a new standard A6 would probably have cost you £5? £6k?????

Skull 23 - Every Fear Factory album on there except for one No sign of ever having roof rails either.

Big Lee M - What do you mean by Recaro's? They dont say Recaro on them, they have the Quattro stitching on them, can do a pic if you like but I dont think they are. Defaintely heated though, very nice in the winter.

S-Express - I've been looking at S2 Avants and I haven't come across one for the price I paid for mine, they've actually gone up if anything. Even with 60-70k MORE miles than whats on mine.

            Thanks for the nice comments

I remember seeing a picture of this somewhere when you had the accident, glad you kept it and got it sorted, looking quite tasty especially without the roof bars

Yes, I think it Papvas on here found the video of me being rescued on Youtube.

Its definately nice to be well on the way to having it all sorted and back to how some things should be, and has definately proved its worth this weekend so far.

I (think) I'd really like a very subtle rear spoiler to go on the top of the tailgate. RS2's have one IIRC.

@Mark - if you send me a PM with your VIN and engine number I can date it for you... It might be in that same 1st batch of cars that included the cars given to UK press. They might have been earlier though as had the older 5-spoke wheels.

You can get the tailgate spoiler on ebay.de for about £100, I keep looking at them too!

Well, its a bit special, so its worth hanging on to. New lambda sensor fitted today too, seems better already.

Here she is after a clean and polish today, something I must admit happens far less often than it ought to. Its definately not concours condition or a trailer queen but it doesn't look bad

Note on some pictures the grille is missing, I removed it last week as it was flapping round everywhere and I didn't want it falling off, I forgot to put it back on when I took some of the pictures. New one from VAGparts still hasn't arrived unfortunately.

Some bits of trim to go on the bottom of the front wings are on their way to me, and I might try and tidy up the rusty front wing, see how that goes.
