when you say clean the reflector i'd be carefull as most likely the material will peal off, if you meant the glass then it will be ok but depends what you want to do.

I cleaned the reflector inside one of them last time I changed a headlight, I managed to make one decent headlight out of two knackered ones. I just used a damp piece of kitchen roll to clean it. No shiny stuff came off then.

Oh, and guess who's gone and ordered the wrong HID kit like a complete p***k?

Didn't realise there were 2 different types of B4 headlight, one with H4, the other with H1 and H3.

Moral of the story....check what is actually on the car before you order something for it, classic schoolboy error.

New HID kit fitted now, and new wing has arrived.

I ended up having to go for a H1 set for my HID kit for full beam and a single H4 kit (not the Bi-Xenon ones) for dip headlights. Got them fitted and wired and I'm very impressed with how good they are, only problem now, is that they are awfully misaligned and with having half the plastic brackets and mounts broken or glued on, not to mention the reflectors inside the headlights are losing their shiny finish. It looks like the only way to sort that is a pair of new headlights from somewhere. Maybe VAGparts can do come up trumps here perhaps?

Here are both kits, still in their boxes:

        Dip beam before:

        Full beam before:

Not had the chance to take any matching pictures for what they're like now, blown another boost hose again today so that might take a little while to do.

Here's what they look like in early morning though, just as a teaser:

        Nice

Picked up my new wing today, you've all seen the old one, that is unfortunately still fitted, here is the new one. £31.76 from Euro Car Parts.

Went to a few bodyshops today to see about having this fitted and sprayed, as well as the possibility of a full respray, as pretty much every panel has a mark or a scuff on it, and I dont really want it to look bitty and different colours. My best estimate was £1400 from the place that has done all the bodywork on my Rover.

I went and asked another bodyshop - Vincent Biggs in Buckley, and he may as well have said he didn't even want to look at it. His opinion was that the car wasn't worth it and I should probably sell it while I still can and buy something new. If I still wanted it doing, I'd be looking at around £2000-2500, and there was no guarantee on the work whatsoever. Also, if they broke anything, I'd have to pay for it to be replaced, and it would probably take 4-5 months.

Needless to say, I walked away.

To try and cheer myself up on the way home, I gave a good dose of the large pedal in 4th to climb a hill, and popped a boost hose off. Engine cut out, had no steering or brakes. Ended up underneath it, having to try and put it back on at the side of the A5104, just to get home.

        All good fun eh?

Wot does the wing sound like...

when you give it a tap with your knuckle, 'tinny' or 'solid' like an oem wing?

The new one or the one thats still on there? I dont think either of them are the best of quality to be honest, but its better than that gaping hole thats there now.

I'm not even going to go there. After the saga of my wheels and tyres package for the Rover, the induction kit for the Rover, the FSE boost valve I bought that turned out to be for a Pinto engine, not a K-series and my car never ran properly after that.

Shame, it has the potential to be an absolute Mecca, just no-one there seems to know what they're doing.

Demon Tweeks are, on the whole, a bunch of snotty nosed tools...BUT when I was building a kit car back in 1998, I got my own advisor and a 20%-30% discount and free loan of steering wheel, bosses, fuel pipe 'off cuts' etc (when i say free loan, its a long term loan ).
TBH they couldn't do enough for me, but as far as I am aware, Mr Minshaw sold out a couple of years ago and its gone down hill since.
Shoot, I remember when DT was a tiny ex-butchers shop in Tattenhall, wish I'd had been a share holder back then!!!

I hadn't even moved up here in 1998 and had not long started in secondary school! I didn't know they started out in Tattenhall, when was that? The only thing they have been helpful for, was some black silicone 4mm hose.
