Following a weekend in the garage sorting through stuff and encouragement from a forum members, i have decided to keep the s2.
The plan is to put it back together in standard ish form with a set budget for possible enhancements.

        What i have:

Sorted chasis with new bushes allround. refurbished driveshafts, subframes, propshaft, gearbox and diff.
aby engine with everything needed bar a couple of sensors, possibly needs a refresh see pics below.
        standard downpipe.
        standard exhaust.
        standard clutch.

        What i need

        suspension allround .
        Brakes allround .
        transmission mounts.
prop centre bearing (probably use the bmw item £20 ECP)
inner cv joints (£20 each from ebay)
prop cv joints (ford scorpio items £20 each from ebay)
        autocheck module.
        complete lock and ignition set.
        Front bumper.
        Intercooler.
        rear tie rods.
        gaskets bolts e,c,t

The budget is 3K give or take, suggestions on the best way to spend the money are very welcome.

standard downpipe. - I have a standard aby downpipe spare
          standard exhaust.
standard clutch. mine was a bit knackered but depending what flywheel you are going for I may have a spare

          What i need

          suspension allround . aelred's best for koni's
Brakes allround . worth keeping your rear setup for the front and getting some funds back for the front setup as its seriously not worth putting the g-60's back on if you want the car back in one piece
transmission mounts. standard would work for the time being till you have some spare for 034
prop centre bearing (probably use the bmw item £20 ECP)
inner cv joints (£20 each from ebay)
prop cv joints (ford scorpio items £20 each from ebay)
autocheck module. should be able to source one of these easy
complete lock and ignition set. the guy who shares my lockup can supply these
          Front bumper.
Intercooler. I have a custom one that could work on your car, bigger than stock
          rear tie rods.
          gaskets bolts e,c,t

with that budget you'd get that sorted easily, i'd have thought to do the above 1.5k should do that easily if you know where to look

That is a very sensible idea, i would have to source new brackets though as the rear offset is diffrent iirc.

Im keeping some in reserve i opened up the engine this weekend to replace the head gasket and it looks a bit abused, im dropping it up to ASTEC to be inspected before i put it back together.

Where did the engine come from?

and i'd have a trial fit of the rears on the front as I always thought that audi basically used a front setup on the rear so that they could make it a quattro, don't see why you can't use them.

Otherwise i'm sure someone with a brake fetish would want your rear calliper brackets. One other thing to check is the piston sizes just to be 100% sure that the rears are front boxster callipers as knowing corey he may have cut corners and got the cheaper rear callipers?

I got the engine from VRS a few months ago, its done under a 100 miles looks like someone didnt use g12 the water ways are very corroded.
Im going to check part numbers on the calipers at some point, i know jay used them for a bit with no issues.

Yeah main thing to make sure is the pistons are the right size, rear callipers on fronts would be worse than the g60's.

let me know what bits your after and i'll see what I can source etc.

The powdercoating on the calipers has obscured the part number this is what i could make out : 28728482

                      Disks are: 8no 615 302 b

The brackets dont fit the front hubs unfortunatly.

Im now in possetion of a full rs2 setup to bolt on to the s2 thanks to a helpful forum member, the setup includes:

                        Rs2 turbo
                        Rs2 EM
                        Rs2 Injectors
                        Rs2 x member and intercooler
                        ecu with high boost chips

Any pointers on brake setups for this power level? i was looking at rs2 fronts with standard rears for the time being to keep cost down, im planning some track days next year if all goes well... so any comments on this setup ie brake fade would be helpful.

My rs6 fronts are still up for grabs if anyones got a trade in mind?!

Nice! who gave you that little lot!

Porsche 996 monoblocks are what you want upfront. don't bother with the RS2 unless they are big reds

                            Hoffer76 sorted out the goods
Whats a rough price for the 996 upgrade? i did think about keeping the rs6 fronts but they create the rear brake problem again and im not to happy with the weight of the setup.

Monoblocks calipers are between £300-450 at the moment, you then need mounts either RS2 or ones from Bambridge then 323 discs ( I take it your running 17" or large wheels? ) then your choice of pads. Textar for everyday although ds2500 are the daddy of the pads
