    3B to RS2 conversion

    Right,

I've being toying with the idea of this one for ages now so I guess it's time to finally find out as to whether or not this one is a runner for me.

At the moment I have the following awaiting fitment to the car:

    -RS2 Airbox
    -RS2 Lambda
    -RS2 MAF
-Large intercooler (Much like Bo's and Newsh's)

I have been offered the following parts with the listed prices:

    -Used RS2 Turbo - £400
    -Used RS2 Injectors - £200
    -Repaired E/M - £250
    -Used RS2 Downpipe - £150

Parts I will need but don't really have a good estimate in regards to price:

    -RS2 Head Gasket + accessories
-Larger exhaust? (I believe mine is currently 2.5" however I shall check with the vernier when I get a chance!)
    -RS2 ECU?

    Anything I've stupidly missed off?

Just for the record, I am not a complete dunce when it comes to the mechanical side of things however turbocharged engines definatly baffle me somewhat so please don't flame me too badly for asking stupid questions.

Now I've been doing abit of reading and I'm somewhat confused when it comes to the RS2 D/P. Is this a straight fit? Is it possible (or easier) to just have a 3" turbo back system made up? Does anybody know of the cost implications for this?

Supposing I do carry out the work, how would the current map and fuelling affect the running of the car? Obviously I would like to get it over to MRC and have a proper mapping session however I would still need to drive it over there.

Probably easier to have a custom 3 inch system made up from say prospeed/ojz engineering and sell off what you have to make some of the money back.

the ecu, just get yours chipped up that will be fine.

Probably easiest thing you could do is to have a read thru newsh's thread at what upgrades etc he has done. ben/s2avant's also got a very good specced car.

prices don't sound too bad but be cautious with the turbo because of the cost of a rebuild. Check your car and see what head gasget you've got, you might be lucky and have the metal one already.

      Haven't we all!

Pro speed are using my car to make a jig for the S2 3" DP, expect the cost to be around £500 + £400 for a system if you need one.

The rest is fine, RS2 IC is less work to begin with and will do 430+bhp as Ross proved.

Paul can sort you an ECU if it's an ABY but 3B, not sure.

Parts sound quite expensive unless they're in top notch condition.

You'll want something to do with the cams to get preopder power, RS2 are best all round, S2/7A for power.

Actually 3B cams will be very driveable with great midrange. The 7A ex cam will lose you some mis and put it on the top.

RS2 DP wont fit, the split to to the Y piece is different.

RS2 inlet cam won't drive the dizzy!

This now sounds as though it's going to get very expensive!

tbh if you take your time and buy a few bits every so often it can be broken down, iirc I think thats what matts2 did and he finally got his running.
