The thing is i've already got quite alot started on the CQ. Its away at the momet having the following done:

Near side rear light cluster replaced
    Throttle Body replaced
    Throttle Position sensor replace
Power flex Polly bushes (wishbones + front anti roll bar)
    New front wishbones
Rear wishbones removed, shot blasted, painted and refitted
S2 ABY Struts (shot blasted and painted)
S2 3B Hubs (shot blasted and painted)
    New disks
    New pads
    New top mounts
S2 Front Callipers (shot blasted and painted)
    18” replica RS4 wheels
Custom made stainless steel exhaust (Cat removed)
    Dash Pod (Speedo ect) replaced

And other work and parts that have already been done include:

    Timing belt
    Timing belt cover
    All auxiliary belts
    K&N Panel filter
    Cam cover gasket
    Crank shaft pulley
    Fuel pump
    Air intake boot
    Off side scuttle
    Sony blue tooth head unit
    Replaced all rear speakers
Replaced interior (black cloth seats, door cards, carpets, parcel shelf)
Flushed through and replaced brake fluid
Engine flushed and oil filter change
    O2 sensor
    Oil pressure sensor
Rear offside calliper replaced(both rear callipers shot blasted and painted)

Still won't idle worth a sh*t when cold

Also I have a really good deal on getting the work done, so the work involed isn't really a problem.

All the above had been done since may and the cars done less than 900 miles since I bought it so I haven't really had a chance to enjoy it yet.

The S2 conversion is a safe choice but it's been done to death.

            (awaits abuse.... again)

The main reason i'm sticking with an NA 20v is to be different and original as I don't know of many cq20vs out there with more than 200bhp.

            Plus I prefer the noise

            (awaits a forum ban...)

If you're interested in a stroker build, take a look at the stroker builds on here for S2s. The only difference for you would be compression and a few other niggles. You need a diesel block WITH CRANK, and you'll probably need custom conrods and pistons. The only thing i'm not sure about is how much you can bore them out, bearing in mind it doesn't have to cope with boost. I'm not planning to do mine for a while yet so I haven't really worked out the finer details!

However if it's an S2 you want I think Steve is right in saying that it's easier and less hassle to get an S2 rather than making one. Probably cheaper too if you get a 3B.

A stroked 7A would be good alright... Might need an aftermarket ECU to get best out of it... Unless someone like MRC can unravel the Hitachi MPI and have it work with a bigger MAF and bigger injectors...
Actually something like Emerald would be great for this using a MAP sensor and throttle pot... maybe with some nice throttle bodies and a ram air induction system if space permits. Emerald can drive five injectors but only one coil at the moment... Getting to 120bhp per liter with the right cams, maybe some lightweight internals so you can rev like crazy and good software jiggery running decent petrol gets you 300bhp on ~2500cc without a turbo. Maybe - I dunno... Would be fun - not cheap though.

I agree Paul, I think the ECU would need work. The V6 MAF conversion is a common mod and you can get around the ECU problem by wiring in a resister or something. I'd rather have a remap on the ECU when everything was in place.

Although, I think with a stroker build you would still see a good improvement even with an unfettled standard ECU. Possibly?

I've heard rhumours that 034 are planning a chip designed for the V6 maf, so I guess the Hitachi is tunable.

Oh for sure there is scope inside the Hitachi ECU for some tweaks alright - had a look at some 7A chips already... Some of it makes sense... Some of it doesn't... Like the stupid checksum algorithm - I can't figure that out so far without a clue from somewhere.

Sort of... I need a guinea pig though - with an AFR meter - especially if this V6 MAF stuff is to get sorted... I haven't looked into that yet. I want to get the 3B software cooking properly first...

Yeah its definately better to buy it all in one go especially with the prices that you can get one now.

But a stroked 7a would be very nice

Emerald have developed a new ecu to run coil packs but its still in the testing stage as its currently fitted to will holman (user on here) 20v urq but till its been run for a while i'm not sure when it will be up for sale.
