It's a 2.4 AAB block, which I think is identical to the 2.5 one only less bore.

Are you sure it's AAB? That's the 2.5 litre Eurovan engine the yanks use for stroker conversions.

I wouldn't use that as it has no oil squirters.

Better of with the AAT or AEL block

Then again how you get an AAB block in the U.K?

Yep, definately an AAB. It's stamped on the side. Not sure about the oil squirters.

Just checked this, mine is not a 2.5, it's a 2.4. It is from a Eurovan but i think it's the other one that doesn't have oil squirters. Acording to motorgeek, it does have squirters.

EDIT: FFS Jamo you had me worried there! Just went out and checked the block and it has the holes for the squirters but no squirters. So will have to buy some. No biggy.

              Well this is something new!

Same engine code with different sizing? Well if it ran 80mm pistons instead of 81mm on the 95.5mm crank it would be a 2.4 litre

I'm off 2 bed this is to bizarre for me

Personally a think a V8 project on a CQ20V would be lots of fun... Its an all alloy engine if memory serves correctly - well some of them are - not all variants. 4.2 liters and 40 valves of V8 fun would be 'interesting'... Even in stock trim with ~340bhp - lots of grunt and no turbo lag - and ooer missus what a soundtrack. Pretty sure the V8 bolts into B3 Coupe on 5-cylinder engine mounts. It has been done by a few folk before... Deep pockets required as ever........

I really like the idea of going for a v8 but I think a Quattro has to be a 5 pot. There's just something about the combination of Quattro and 5 pot I like to much to change. Maybe v8 in my next car

I am getting quite intrested in a stroker build. Any rought idea of cost to do this? What where those diesel block used in?

i would love to do a stroker 5 pot then maybe a twin screw supercharger, but since i have found most of the bits for a V8 convertion are available now such as engine mounts and ECU i think i'll be going down that route unless an ABY doner comes up at a low price......
Interested to see what Stiglet can get out of an N/A 5 pot

OEM = Original Equipement Manufacturer. i.e Audi, or someone like Bosch, Lucas, Behr if Audi don't produce it themselves....

Unless you WANT to do hours and hours of work and would enjoy getting down and dirty i would buy a 3B or ABY Coupe and save yourself the hassle. It will be a tidier solution anyway, and you can enjoy driving it rather than lying underneath it!

I dont know about mike but i dont mind doing the work, all part of the fun, plus you know that it was all you that did it. Also my car has a lot of sentimental value to it now, couldn't sell it, plus i've spent too much time/money getting it to how i want it lol, still not even half way tho.....know what you mean tho steve, if i could go back i'd have bought an S2 from the start, unfortunately funds didn't allow

Phatty speaks a lot of sense here... Depends if you want the 'fun' of converting a CQ20V into an S2... Buying the real McCoy is going to be tidier for sure (unless you buy a minger).
