Yes sir. I have welded for quite a while now. I am going to school as a mechanical engineer, but welding is a hobby/getting-through-school thing for me. I am actually making a bunch of Intake manifolds here in the USA as well. They are nice pieces and give Furans a run for their money for less.

If anybody has needs, I am in another country, but I would love to help!! I am building a rad dual rail setup for a 20vt here in the states that runs 11.1s in a daily driven 90tq!!! I'll post up some pictures soon.

Wow, This is my first post of the year on my poor URQ project.

Well, I finally decided enough was enough, and I needed to get it back on the road, and enjoy some spring driving before it got too hot. I took it down in November to keep me from rippngit around in the salty roads of Salt Lake City and Park City. It would be a shame to put rust on this rustess car.

So I took it down and used it as a jig to make some manifolds for some friends and customers. I have made 3 of them now for my car, and then people want them, and I end up selling them... Besides not having an IM, I was tired of my breather to relieve crank pressure as well. I did not have the can draining back to the crank, so I was consuming a ton of oil, and if it got too high, it overflowed everywhere. I was not sure I was getting a good vent either, as I was pulling off the rear of the VC, and I think that it was sloshing into my can..

So I went to the drawing boards and decided to make my own valve cover that would seperate 99 percent of the oil, and then I would just have it going into a can to get the remainder. I started with a 7a cover, built up the sides about an inch with plate 6061, lathed extenders for the spark plug holes and deleted the oil fill up location. I then noted carefully where all the oil was sloshing from(mostly the cam lobes) and drilled 1/4" holes where that was not taking place. I put about 40 of them in there. I then put stainless steel wool over the holes and put covers over them to provide yet one more baffle, and trap door the oil had to overcome to even get to the open space where i was pulling a vent off of..

I then found this sweet surplus piece of 6061 extrusion that I wanted to use, so I made the top, and welded in provisions for two 3/4" vents. I used pushlock hose to get from the cover to the can, and I am for now just putting the remainder into the air filter so I dont have to smell it inside the cabin.

So that took care of that problem..

My next complaint with the car was the brakes. I just had g60s on there. They did well in town, and the occasional rip up the canyon, but they got hot fast, and it didnt take much to get them to fade. I could get them to fade going UP the canyon and knew something needed to be done. I had bought some a8 rotors 4 years ago, and before i knew the evil of crossdrilled rotors when I had my 5000. I had them, so I used them, along with the TT stuff. I also had been having problem with the POS bias valve, so i got the Wilwood valve, and did some flare work to make it work. The brakes rock now. They are great brakes!1!!!

Okay, so I have been busy on the sewing machine. Actually, I have been over at my sister's house harrassing her to help me. She looked at me like I was idiot when I told her I wanted to redue the ur//s6 seats in quattro script. She thought I was even a bigger idiot, when I brought over the seats and thought I was brain dead when i wanted to reupolster 15 year old seats with "quattro" script from a 20 year old car.

I have gathered 3 full sets of grey quattro script over the last 4 years. ( still need one more to fulfill my dreams). At first I was going to do recaros out of the vw GLI, but when I got my s6, I fell in love with the seats. I have sat in Sparcos, recaros, Exc, and I find the s6 seat very comfortable.

So we dug in. I still need one more s6 seat to finish off the drivers seat, but this is how the passanger seat turned out. It is fully manual AND tilts for the rear seat. I used the URQ frames, with the foam and leather from the s6. Cool part about it is that the S6 foam is about 3/4 inch lower in the bucket, so the bolsters on the bottoms are big.

LOL, the interior is going to make this car a whole different beast. I have enough to "quilt" quattro script the door panels, the back panels, and the back seats. I also have enough to do the sun roof as well, but I need one more full cars worth to do the rear panel above the rear seats..

I think the interior is going to compliment my upcoming paint in that grey of mine...

A few guys have pm'd me to ask about my URQ. I will update this thread with the pictures, and the nitty grit stuff can be found on Motorgeek. If anybody has any questions, feel free to ask. I try to help out the community as much as I can.

Anyway, I built a new header for the car to utilize the tial .82AR 35r housing and a 35r sent in to Forced Performance for a billet HTA wheel... These are Prototype's for Marc Swanson at EFIexpress. A busy life has pushed this project back a bit, but a bunch of abusive miles later on several 500whp cars has proven that the design works well, and is very durable, even for a tube header. Zero cracks in over 20k miles combined

After eating a couple of locker 016 tranmissions, I put in a torsen unit that required a 4.11 rear end to go in..

I pulled the engine to install a beefier clutch as the spec 3+ was slipping at 30r levels. This is a SouthBend Stage 5 Fullface surface from EFIEXPRESS. I love this clutch I have decided. It takes everythign I throw at it.

While the engine was out, I put in a new rack and a coleman 1.5:1 reducer to quicken the rack ratio. One of the best mods to date.

To finish up that stage, I welded up a new exhaust out of 6061-t6. I fabricated teh mufflers, and the sound is great. Best part is the exhaust weighs 6 pounds from the downpipe back.

A new downpipe was made, and I also made a new intake manifold, as the old one was sold to fund some of these parts. This is about my 20th one It features a v-band inlet that makes taking it on and off a 20 second affair. Oh, and I made a new radiator as well and put a rs2 fan and shroud behind it.

Then I drove the piss out of it. I tracked it a bit, and flogged the new setup!! It was a good month while the 016 torsen lasted!!! Here are some pics and a vid..

That killed my 016 that run, and the next lap really finished it off....

              Back to the drawing boards..

I got ahold of rs2 tranmission arms. I drew them up in Cad and came up with a good strong mount that exceeded rs2 for strength and weight.

I then got a stick up my butt to paint the car. The car looked good from about 20 feet, but the paint was terrible. It was an original Port Rose car, and had been resprayed twice the original color and then twice white. I was hoping to just strip it down to the base, and do a quick respray, but escalation got ahold of me. Good news is that I have always really wanted a red URQ. Bad news is that it took the better part of 140 man hours to do. We stripped it to the metal, and did it right, removing all the glass and interior minus the dash.

Rolled some fenders a bit while I was in there so I could fit some 265-35-17s later on...

I was trying to make a URQ meet in las Vegas and we had a strict time crunch. My uncle the painter decided he wanted to go fishing, and I could not waste the time. So instead of painting that weekend, I finished off the 01e conversion.. .

Milled out some spacers to allow the use of two passenger side half shafts from the URQ. THey have 108mm outter flanges like the 01e so it was purely putting a sandwich plate in there..

The linkage is a modified urS6 arm to mimick 016 stuff.. A crossbar ties into a boss on the other side.

On the interior side, the urs6 base bolts up to the URQ floor, and the lockout for the reverse is kept. I used my 016 034 short shifter and just flipped the lockout upside down to work wit hthe 01e reverse.

With my painter back from fishing, We jumped back into paint. We etched it, primed it in red oxide and put it in the booth...

                  And...

I may have also done the interior in Black Suede while I had the interior out as well

And there you have it! Consider yourselves caught up for the last 4 months or so!! In the next couple of months, I will look into making custom shafts to prevent twisting them, install a second 044 pump so I can up the boost from 30psi to 38ish, get it on the dyno, and do some track days!

Wow, awesome project UrQ! It's nice if you can weld yourself and make your own parts. I which I could do this.

Do you have any pictures, how you did your intercooler setup? It seems you are still runing the OEM UrQ bumper.
