    3B Overhaul

As my car is now back on the road, i thought it would be time to start my project thread. It is basically as the title says with the aim is to get it all cleaned up, handling and stopping well before any mods are done to the engine.
The car is a 1991 3B, and apart from the wheels is basically standard.
This is the car just before i started getting too keen and dismantling everything.

The first phase was to overhaul the front and rear sub frames. I didn't take too many pictures of the dismantling phase but here are some of the components once they were off. As you can see they look a little sorry for themselves.

After having the front subrame blasted, it was powder coated along with the arms. The front RS2 anti-roll bar i just painted as it was in good condition.

As you will see from the picture of the front cast arms, i had to chuck these away as the arms were too bent to get them back in the sub-frame with new powerflex bushes. They would have just gone in with standard bushes and now explains why i thought the front end had stiffer springs on when i bought it as the arms were probably not moving that freely.
All the other componets such as hubs, drop links and other such items were, wire brushed, kure-rusted and then painted with Hammerite. For the front end, standard sub-frame bushes were used with powerflex wishbone bushes.

Looking good there. The strut to hub bolts are 110Nm + 90deg BTW I found this out the hard way This was for an ABY, better check that yours are the same as there are 2 different diameters for early and late.

All bolts were relpaced and the front subframe bolted back on.

With the front done, it was time to tackle the rear end. The first thing to clean up was the rear diff. As seen from the earlier picture, it was in a messy state. After much degreaser and a tooth brush it was ready to be painted, and hey presto:

One thing, get that paint off the hub face, it will cause run out, just a spray of copper grease is all they need.
