It came with the front end. Most of it is still in his garage and I'll probably keep as spares for my RR20V.

TBH I've not really delved into the history that much. What I did note though that there is a company called Aidan Piers with a phone number of 0161 973 0800 on the number plates which is Manchester (I think?) which is not too far away from Stoke-on -trent.

Progress has been slow, but then the weather has been rubbish and when you're doing this on your drive (yes the neighbours love me) you don't want to be working in sub zero temperatures or when it's lashing it down.

I've recently acquired an ADU RS2 engine. Other than the air box missing, it should come complete with everything including all ancillaries, downpipe, manifolds, turbo, loom, fuse box, ECU, intercooler, flywheel and clutch etc. Basically everything I need to just put it in without too much fuss

I have also this week managed to get my hands on a pair of 996 monoblocks at a reasonable price.......so I'll be in touch soon Mr Bambridge.

Also got a 3B flywheel as for some reason I think I may need one?

So before I go any further, a couple of questions:

                1. Will the ADU engine and ADU flywheel mate with the UR 5 speed gearbox or will I need a 3B one.

                2. Should I stick with the 5 speed box, or change to 6 speed including all S2 running gear?

                3. What power can I expect from a re-map and who can help with this?

                4. How far can I go on stock internals without needing to change things?

                5. What do I need to change to get over 400BHP?

As always, thanks in advance for your replies.

Over 400 BHP you need turbo, injectors, mapping and I recommend to change MAF :mischeif:
                  This turbo is nice:

Won't bolt on to the RS2 manifold though. Although if the manifold is in good shape you can just sell it and buy a tubular with T3 flange.

So the rods and pistons will be OK up to how much BHP?

Pistons should be fine on that turbo.
Rods... will need very careful mapping, so it doesn't knock.
It'd be safer to change the rods at that power level.

you don't need to change rods on ADU engine under 450bhp.

you don't even need to change the rods on a 600 BHP 3B...untill they bend. IMHO it's not safe to say they don't have to be changed. Knock kills them like prj said.

                            Exactly.
Normal operation or torque will not bend your rods.
It's knock that does, heavy knock, during which peak cylinder pressure spikes to many times the nominal value.
Say your fuel pressure falls off a bit for some reason. Stronger rods could mean the difference between having to take apart the engine and not.

                            They are insurance.
That's why stock rods are so strong. So you can not bend them almost no matter what on the stock turbo.

Here's my new engine with FVAG service history - even had a full cambelt kit (water pump and idler) + service in the last 1K miles!

Any ideas on what I can replace the missing airbox with i.e. another RS2 one or cone type filter and where to get it from?
