Nowt wrong with them if you get a good set!, this is the problem you don't know if you are or not.

I'd trust Aron, he test things to destruction lol

Arrows are super rods, SteveH or Mark Halligan has a set

nike shoes are made in china. Doesnt mean anything so long as quality inspections are made.

Fair point but a set of shoes are cheap, a set of cheap rods are still a lot more and its the hassle of having to return them and all that jazz.

Buy the right stuff in the first place and this tends not to be a issue.

            indeed, i agree.
If pauter and carillo's prices were no more than 150euros when i bought the scats 2.5 years ago, i would go with the later ones, no doubt. But since all 3 brands have been tested and im not running a dragster seeking 800+ torque, the most important thing that remains to be sure is their weight and it's proper fitment.

Which comes more to the point. If you are not building a super torque car, you dont need the top brand. There are mid range proven and tested equipment that do the job equally well. If you are building a stroker, yes you want to be extra safe.
I was happy that Peter Kowalsh, 034, Marc and others have tested the scats and hold on nicely even on 700+ Nm so wasnt keen on spending the extra 300+ euro for carillos or Peuter.

I totally agree, the cheap rods I use are Eagle, always been perfect and never once had a issue so for cheaper (lesser) powered engines I'll just use them as they are far better than a OE rod.

Most people that have used the Arrows are as you say on steel cranks or revving the nuts off the engine so it seems wise to use a well proven rod for that sort of spec engine.

Each to their own I guess, not everyone can afford Arrow/Carillo prices and as you say maybe their engine doesn't warrant it anyway

                Thats my point Jonny!!
It seems to me lately that whenever someone new has a query people tend to 'suggest' what the best option is, not all options and in this case, all of a sudden Scat rods seemed to have become a bad option just because there were a few bad words on them.I would think that since they are mostly used than any other brand (due to their value for money), it is bound to have mishaps as well. Not to mention that sometimes it may be the fact of a bad assembly.

same thing has happened with spec clutches. Some where used above their abilities, or got contaminated or who knows, and lots of others are working perfectly. Even 034 has them at a higher price than southbend which supposedly are better than spec(or so it seems!). Then again some B7 A4 owners think that southbend clutches are rubbish because they managed to get a full disc to stick to the flywheel while attempting a launch! All of a sudden the clutch kit is bad and not the fact that the full 360deg disc is not meant to be used for launches and this is why a 3/4/6 puck disc will avoid this from happening... etc

Sorry it was the SPM rods that had it on the box however I'm sure these are from the same source just rebranded

Ok soon the car gets in for upgrade! The stuff that I stick with are:

                      1.turbonetics GT-K 450 A/R.63 with T3 flags
2.forge rods with rebuild of the bottom end and head
3.stock pistons with dropping compression gasket
                      4.custom tubular ex. manifold
5.custom (base on AAN) intake manifold
6.7A or NM cams - Here I'm not sure what should I use for best street performance. Minimum lag and fast throttle response. Maybe combo of both?
                      7.630cc Deka inj.
                      8.GReddy Profec B Spec-II - boost control

                      Transmission:
                      1.custom clutch
2.CET gearbox from a S4 - here I'm not quite sure, because the box is from the latest revision year 96 with long 1 and 5 gear. Is there any sense to look for 6sp CGR instate of CET related to reliability?
3.What benefits there will be if I use NM or 7A flywheel ? - this is more like a question.

Anyone with similar setup? What do you think how much HP I can push-up from this and is reliable setup for every day use?

scats are fine. they are not pauter quality but they will be pauter strength.

then need to be weight matched. also buying from a supplier who doesn't accept poor parts helps as they get rid of the poor ones.

i personally believe most of the rods that look the same are the same. chinese steel prepped to parts in the surrounding low cost counties. its the company then selling them who quality check their batch before stamping them. thats where the decisive point is.

does that make them bad? no. the uk modded scene frowns upon cheaper parts. always has. the ford scene is the same. they say dont buy those then go and buy burton rods. now where did they come from?
