Apart from having a sunroof it's perfect, however the roof needs attention anyway so I may well be able to do a tidy job of getting rid of it.


The wheels are not to my tastes at all, will be replaced with Comopmotive MO's.

Looks good, worth checking it over throughly for any rot that's found its way into the shell, especially the base of the A pillars, a little preventitive maintenance now will mean that it stays on the road later

Not quite obsessed with MOs, but I am rather fond of them. I don't like alloys that bend, I've tested MO's close to destruction and failed.

I'm going to be checking out the state of the body and will take whatever mesures are required I spoke to Ben at some length last night and apart from the sills and the laquer peeling on the roof all is aparently well.

Here's a couple of shots of the old girl, it occurred to me earlier that in 14 years of driving this is the oldest car I've owned.

Tested the car out on a bit of private land, it goes like stink on it's KV motor and sounds awesome, quicker than my B3 2.3 NG coupe anyway so the plan is to get it MOT'd and use it as is whist I rebuild the 10VT motor and upgrade the suspension and brakes in preparation for the swap.

The car has a full service history and every old MOT, it's currently on 160K.

Forgot to take some photos of the inside, but it's Black and Grey and pleasantly retro, and apart from the drivers seat near mint. It's got electric windows on all four doors as well as central locking all of which work. No ABS

The offside front spring is snapped hence the funny ride height. It will have to be sorted for the MOT, but once that's done it should pass. The drive train is silent.

The drive back was pretty good, apart from the city bit, Sheffield was a killer especially towing a 7'6 wide trailer. Ben was pretty surprised by it as well for a Sunday, was some road works and a diversion causing general hassle.

I bet you were sad to see it go. It has it's faults admittedly, but for a 25 year old car it's in amazing condition, the body is better than I expected but will still need a little attention for the MOT. All the gauges and switch gear work as well as the quattro rear screen heater which is a really nice touch, much larger script quattro logo than on the early B3 cars.

You guys didn't tell me about the full service history in the glove box, delighted when I found that!!!


It's so original that I'm not going to do anything irreversible apart from the engine swap, it will be lighten a bit in a similar way to my S2 and at some point the paint work deserves some proper attention

@ Pete. Yep twas mine, I towed that car from Kings Lynn or Yarmouth or somewhere similar all the way back to sheff using an a frame just to sell it 6 months later! and yes that council house style drive way is mine (shoved down privet, sectional garage and occasional loose flags randomly thrown down). Oh and the shell has made it to the workshop at last!

@ Kit. I know you're not using them but the wheels need spigot rings if you do. Did Ben give you the sill ends and the spare front legs? I was going to say I wish I'd kept it but I would never have got around to it given that Samantha and I have seven cars between us and they all need something doing so I'm glad really. It's a shame that Ben couldn't find time for it but a good thing that you ended up with it. Good luck with whatever you have planned for it.

Small world ain't it. Was it two years ago you picked up that Syncro?? Thanks for the heads up on the rims, their not going to be around long though, are they Ford spigot size?. I think I'm going to whack a set of 14" R8's for now as I plan on using it as is for while. Yep, Ben gave me the sill sections and front legs, going to get it sorted in the next few days, then MOT it ASAP as it's so much fun to drive.

Love the retro intirior, need to find a good passenger seat the same colour to repair the drivers seat with, replace the gear knob and give it a really good valet, will be near mint inside then
