If you use stock cams it wont be as bad, the 3071 doesn't produce enough torque to test the stock rods.
It has higher bhp but lower torque than an RS2 turbo.
han gt307
Anyhow stop talking and buy T2andy's setup!!!
gt3071r produce around 500hp with 2.2bar in our cars and has less torque than k24 7200 with 380hp??
i have a spanish friend who has gt3071r with 0.63..boosting 2.0bar ...and you say that surelly myself got more torque than him,,,mine using 2.0bar with rs2 turbo??
i thought that RS2 turbo was more reliable for stock internals than gt3071r....

GT3071R will not produce 500hp on our cars, unless very exotic cams are used, heavy porting, lightened bottom end etc etc. The flow of the turbo is at it's edge with the 0.63AR and apparently the .82AR will give a bit more, but will not reach 500hp IMO. At least after all this time it has been tried by many, noone has produced these results.
As for the RS2 turbo vs the 3071 in torque, im asking the above question with both turbos operating within their limits.
on that matter, you dont have anyone pushing the 3071R really hard on stock rods either. The statement that the 3071 produces less torgue than the rs2 turbo is wrong. It is more likely that the rs2 turbo produces it's torque sooner that causes the problem.Possibly because of the surging issues on the 3071 and the motronic noone has ever managed to get the 3071 to bend anything (thankfully), but that does not mean that the 3071 makes less torque than the rs2.
On average 550Nm? when did we come up with that number now?...
mine went at 580Nm on 1.8bar on a maha, and it seems quite logical to get 600-620 on 2bar on the 3071R.On top of that, the 3071 can still be pushed to 2.3bar for a few rpm if torque is all that someone wants and exceed even the 620Nm. By Mihneas statement alone, the 3071 will produce more torque than the rs2.
In every aspect the 3071 is a larger turbo even by a fraction. Except of course if the rs2 turbo goes against the laws of physics.
I think you are just mistaking low end rpm torque with highest torque. And again, just because a 3071R turbo hasnt bent any rods yet, doesnt make the rs2 turbo able to produce more torque.
Andy,
How soon do you hope to move on this?
I am yet to see a plot for the CT350, but fingers crossed, I might have one for all to view within a coupple of months

Guys, I'm sure there's a better place to argue turbos, any useful info will get lost in a projekt thread...
Fact is that due to personal circumstances any budget I can muster won't stretch to do everything that I want and I've maxed the OE turbo so I've either got to look at taking 1 or 2 small steps up in turbo, no more, or settling for some rock solid reliability and pushing the little k to its limits some more. I like the smugness of small turbo surprise and enjoy squeezing everything I can out of what I have, I'd get frustrated at having a monster up front and having to shackle it with my clutch and old, stock bottom end.
In the context of this projekt the small hybrid MTM or Nothelle is ideal with the RS2 being the tried and tested bolt-on solution.
Anything I can buy that is also suitable for my ultimate mid 400s goal, I will, it'll make what I have all the better, like current setup

I look forward to seeing this as the turbo you mention is a candidate for my ultimate goal with the Alpinweiss, that and 1350kg
