Ok, a few more updates.

i've replaced the o ring in the PAS pump, and voila, no more steering noise.
just a shame the replacement PAS pump got delivered today, thats £60 i could have done with saving but hey ho i'll see if i can return it.

ive put the old bodykit bumpers on it so i can get it MOT'd tomorrow. fingers crossed it might creep through, but im prepared for the worst.

took her for a drive and i have a few concerns.

1. when the engine is running i can hear the fuel pump buzzing away, there was sod all fuel in the tank if that makes a difference, and no parcel shelf. is that a common thing i have to get used to or what?

2. the scorpion exhaaust is blinking noisy and seems to reverberate in the cab, i've not driven it far yet, but on the motorway it's gonna be a nightmare. would a std system be quieter? also theres a k&n induction kit on, i suspect thats not helping.

3. worst of all the whole drive train seems to have too much play and be a little vague. i reported a while ago that im getting a slamming under hard acceleration or sudden lift off which everyone tells me is probably the main diff bush... but i can make that slamming noise by just moving the clutch to and from the biting point when in reverse. does that still sound like a bush? im reading scary things about to much play in the diff (black lash or something)

4. finally, the handing feels vague, it had some H&R springs a fair few miles ago, and theres nothing to indicate its ever had new dampers in the history, how long are h&r's meant to last?
is replacing all the bushes in the suspention a big job?

Both these will make a difference, get some decent fuel run thru. The pump is submerged in fuel so no fuel = no silencing action of the pump.

I found mine ok, may have a worn rubber or something letting it sit on the chassis.

Could be the diff, wait and see what the mot says, could well be just a bush.

H&R's last for quite a while, could just need tracking, I found when I'd had suspension done on mine, on power would pull to the right, off the power slam to the left.

basically, whilst it goes like a frikkin rocket, it just feels vague and rattley and noisy and i just want to freshen it up.

That would be the best and cheapest option (to start with) as it will tell you if there is any bushes/shocks/etc needing seeing to and at the same time get it legal so you can take it anywhere it needs to go. Most things are not too bad just let us know how we can help you once you know whats needed.

Heated seats - nice bonus, do they work ok?
also looks like your missing the pocket in your first picture under the carpet on the right hand side of the boot that is used for storing oil etc. If you want one and are going to any of the meets so you can have the one from the car i'm breaking.

Must admit the front bumper I don't mind compared to some aftermarket one's i've seen. Rear one not 100% sure on atm Just need a nice set of rims and your sorted.

Bummer,

MOT failed on excessive play in all 4 rear lower suspension arm bushes.

theyve quoted 2 hours work to change them, i said i'd supply the bits myself.

does anyone know which i need?

i was thinking about getting the powerflex ones, but to be honest, for now ill just get the OEM ones.

nevermind, ive ordered them now,

the only other thing the car failed on were wipers and a indicator bulbs (orange tint had come of the bulb, so i had white indicators)
it could have been alot worse.

yeah the heated seats seem to work quite well. i wasnt aware that wasnt a std extra on the leather interior.

ive got no idea whether there a missing pocket or not, but if it's missing i'll look forward to pinching yours if i come to a meet.
