Looking good mate. Happy to help
There is nothing like amassing a collection of shiny refurbed parts to refit, all the hard work is worth it the car will drive brilliantly

Another big thank you to another forum member. Thanks again to Error404 for sending me some rack banjo bolts so finish off the rack.

Luckily my digital torque wrench back from calibration and repair so took the opportunity last night to test it out on the rack banjo bolts.

With the shot blaster back in operation in work, I sorted out most of the items I wanted blasting and took them to work today.

After only managing to get half of that box done today I brought the important bits to my workshop to finish painting.

Also managed to get a few other bits and bobs painted.

Then just before calling it a night I decided to quickly press in the wheel bearings that I picked up today.
The ball joints were supposed to have turned up today but got let down by my supplier.

Hopefully the plan for this weekend it to underseal the car and finish painting the flanges so I can build the rest of the hubs and rebuild the rear driveshafts or all of them if I can get a new front CV joint.

Could be but there was an awful lot of green almost hydraulic type oil in the strut. The dampers felt fine on the car and still feel tight when moving them by hand so could well be still of use.

    snap!

Those Konis might not have been leaking its good practice to put a bit of oil or some anti-freeze in the strut tube when fitting them
If those springs were once blue they look like they are probably H&Rs

    Bit more progress.

First off another thank you to Will @ VRS for sorting me out with a rear drive shaft in immaculate condition!

Started off tonight by stripping, cleaning and rebuilding the inner CV joints. After cleaning the surface rust off the outside edges I gave them a few coats of paint.

While waiting between coats of paint to dry, I stripped my old struts and build up my KW's with new top mounts.

As people asked before what the suspension was before I can confirm that the shocks were Koni adjustable's. I still cant confirm what the springs were as they are far too corroded to recognise. On the plus side I can't wait to feel how the car handles with all this new suspension as 3 out of the 4 old dampers had leaked out and into the strut housing!!

Once all the castle strut nut's were removed from the old struts I fitted the new top mounts onto the KW's

Looking good dude, looking forward to seeing it all come together now, you must be pretty excited about driving it again!
Once you've got the tracking set, wrap up the adjusters with this stuff

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DENSO-TAPE...item5d2a9a2eab

It works brilliantly, keeps out all the water and salt off the roads so the adjusters are like new when you come to use them again.

    More parts arrived and fitted!

Firstly a massive thank you too quattrostyle for sending out my new Meyle HD top mounts so quickly!

Finished painting the rack and fitted the new rack gaiter from TPS. When trying to refit the banjo bolts one bolt with the one way valve cracked around the tread so I'll be having to order a new pair of bolts from TPS tomorrow.

Started to assemble the rear diff. I decided not to change the seals in the end, I made sure the breather was unblocked and that everything was clean and in good order. If the diff seals do leak then I will remove the diff again and change the seals along with a TORSEN if I can find one at the time.

    More to come.

Just out of interest, what paint are you using on your gerarbox n rack? Looks a nice finish
I will be doing that on mine next time the tracking needs doing as they always seize up no matter how well greased they are

The silver paint is this BBQ paint.

Although it is cheaper to get off ebay.

The black paint on the box is left over engine enamel.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll hopefully grease EVERYTHING before it goes back together its just I cant help but put stuff together to see what it will look like. Plus it stops me loosing things in boxes and bags. I have honestly forgotten what its like to drive but I'm sure its better than driving the mk3 golf I have at the moment!
