Taking it out is not a problem, its getting it back in thats not easy as the piston needs to be compressed and well, you know how much access you have there!
I think it took me a good 5 hours in the rain once when i removed it just to check it was still working I ended up compressing it in a vice, and using a piece of silk to hold the push rod in. After that it went back in to place quite easily.
      Good luck!

Update time, been cracking on getting the car back together.
Did the slave cylinder, which,to be honest wasn't that bad
so proceeded in getting the 'radiator side' of the engine back together.
Rad and fan are back in,everything is connected up,just need to torque up the knock sensors.
The cross member is painted and on along with the intercooler, just need a few bits to be able to get the front bumper remounted.
A couple more bits arrived in the post which will go a little way to getting the intake piping finished, just need a couple more clamps and to modify the old metal charge pipe i found gathering dust in my parts bin
Also spent a bit of time under the car with a tub of underseal.
So,when i can find some pennies i'll be needing an oil cooler,a few odds and ends and an exhaust manifold (that's in hand ),then i can move to the next stage and get the turbo mounted.
          Couple of pics:

Been tinkering away, trying to get the car looking something like.
Got the charge pipes done,so it's all back together now
Got the bumper on,it's a snug fit with the intercooler and needed trimming a little, but all in all i'm happy
Just getting some money together for an ecu and exhaust manifold,at that point i should be able to fire her up (fingers crossed)
That will only leave the brakes and exhaust to sort out.The end is in sight...

Not much progress on the car of late,a lack of funds doesn't help
I took the opportunity yesterday to wash the car while the weather was nice, seeing it all cleaned up provides some insipration to "keep on keeping on"

Well having only just started to get some money coming in has meant the car has been on hold for a week or two,but i should hopefully be able to get the last of the parts,it's so close to finished it hurts
Spent yesterday making the down pipe, not a bad job but a bit backwards and forwards,mark,cut,tack,check...rinse and repeat
Did the wastegate dump pipe in the workshop, trying to get it lined up on the car would have been a PITA.
Going to order the last bits for the exhaust and crack on with that next.

I can report that it fits like a dream...

Cheers!i made the strut brace myself, nothing fancy, two brackets and a length of alu box section,it's a project on a budget but it will work...hopefully
as for the wheels...it's the way forward IMO

Got a couple of parts through the post for the exhaust,so finally i could crack on
Decided to go for a side exit for a bit of fun, although i've made it so the rear section detcathes from the center,so i can fit an off the shelf rearbox if i want (all it would need is a link pipe making).
All in all fairly happy with it,tried my best to keep it tight up to help ground clearance, but the proof will be when it's on the road again.
                      Few piccies:

So i'm really not that far off,on the look out for an RS2 exhaust manifold, need an ecu and a couple of silicone hoses and thats about it.
Also picked up a new 19 row oil cooler as i'm not happy with the current one,i think i'm going to relocate it to the rad side of the engine bay as there's not as much going on in the way of pipework and the like...more on that when i get round to doing it,i'll get a pic of the exhaust fitted when i can get it over the pit

well,i now know that it runs

It sounded a bit tappety for a while but soon queitened down-i'm a happy man!

Ended up using a standard EM just to fire her up,an RS2 manifold is in the pipeline
Still a couple of niggles to iron out, mainly a pretty bad leak from the coolant 'socket' at the back of the head, that and no reading on the temp gauge, nothing too major though.
Oh yes and it sounds fooking awesome
A couple of pictures for pictures sake

I just need to focus my attention on a bit of snagging, along with sorting the brakes and a good clean and polish....next stop mot station.....

Well since the last update i've been chipping away at the niggles, replaced the coolant hose 'block socket' with an upgraded item courtesy of Andy (aka Rusty),which sorted the coolant leak, made a few tweaks to the charge pipes and done a fluid change (oil and coolant),it's running ok,although it seems to missfire slightly if given the beans on idle, going to check out the coils and plugs and see if there's anything going on there...
I've had clutch pedal issues from day one after fitting the single mass flywheel and clutch setup, but as of today it's all sorted....meaning i've driven the car for the first time in well over 12 months-damn it feels good (even though it's only around the yard)
So now i'm moving towards an mot, that and a better front brake setup, but that's pretty much it,next update will hopefully be a vid or two of he car in action (finally!)
