even if you don't change the steering rack, at least change the gaiter (£4 from GSF) and check the condition of the damper. Both where screwed on my avant.
The damper moved in and out with no resistance which certainly would have been noticable when hitting bumps!

it dont say 86.08 look where the decimal point is its 80.98,
If It Takes a Piston Ring, We Can Build It! Since 1967, Total Seal has been the authority in piston ring design and technology for Vehicle, Diesel, Industrial, Marine and Aviation applications.
Thats what I'm going for. Heard alot of good things about them. Especially for boosted engines
Stand on the otherside of the block, and look at the numbers again...
Ah ha! so it is 80.98! Nah what it was the engine builder wrote down 86.08 on a piece of paper but then said he never said that that he'd written 80.98, now i can read numbers and went over tonight and it is 80.98, new piston rings please sir....
A little update, ive had the crank back from basset down all balanced up so the engine will be going back together soon and hopefully turning the key by next month.
After all the bits ive bought will it be safe to start the car on the standard ECU or should i be looking for a homefried one? Or another option?
And also Ive invested in a custom cage and fia seats, its heading for the track me thinks! And secondly whats cheaper/better DIY coilovers with bilstein inserts or KW coilovers from the likes of 034?
Or you can make your own CCK's out of a kit that Mance sells using Bilsteins from an urs4 and Eibach springs.
I had this set up and its rock hard, not so fun on bumpy roads as its not forgiving at all..
Costs just under a grand all in with the top mounts.
p.s. if your running stock FPR and Injectors and timing then its fine to start it on the stock ecu. Its a good idea to run it in for a thousand miles before you turn up the power anyway..
If not then it will need fuel and boost maps to suite what ever is on the car.
