Looking good Ross, glad to hear you got the bottom end sorted to your satisfaction
RS2 - a new lease of life

It's a dangerous road Vas... the car was 'RS2+' when I bought it, subtle mods that don't take away from the OEM look and originality of the car. And that justifies me pushing the boudary between 'OEM tweaked' and 'non-stock' :mischeif: Besides, Audi don't sell half the OEM stuff anymore so what is one to do!
I'm going down the road of comfort, reliability and efficiency - i can't help it if part of that journey results in a power increase too
Justifications: the southbend clutch uses Sachs pressure plate so it's close enough stock, the cylinder head improvements are again all stock parts just improved, pistons - well that was neccesary and the K26/7 was on it when I bought the car so I have to stick with that. I'm just going to change it for a better K26/7 at some point, so it's a direct swap and RS2 turbo's are just too hard to find anyway
Oh and the EV14's... that is more of a step from OEM that I am happy with but I'm doing this in the name of efficiency; they will give me better MPG cruising. The other imrovements should shoot me from 365hp into the low 400s and it's mere convenience they'll give me the headroom to support that

Ross, i know the story, have been saying all those things to myself many years now! I even changed the name of the thread to : enough with the upgrades!!!!haha yet, i find now myself correcting old mistakes OR just the fact that an engine running 1.8 to 2bar no matter how much effort you put into quality parts and workmanship, will need a full rebuild after 100K kms. In either case though i have enjoyed the car for all this time and now through that journey its reaching it's final output mechanicaly. At least i learned something throughout!
i think when you reach a point where some things need renewing, its best to do with uprated parts anyway. They tend to be cheaper! i found a set of SS valves 0.5oversize where cheaper than the original size!Comment

One more snap shot on the phone cam... got the turbo water pipes on
Oh and note the samco coolant hoses from the bulk head, these were left over from the 2005 garage meet at Greg's dads place - too much skin lost so they never got fitted! A breeze with the engine out

The breather system I hope to review at some point. My biggest issue is I want something stealth - i.e. looking fairly stock. Perhaps a swirl pot with return to sump that could be finished in black with piping to match. Currently the map is to 1.9bar and I intend on pushing 1.9/2.0 and the stock breather coped so far, but the amount of oil sludge I've cleaned out of the intake system is motivation to sort it, I expect it to spool faster with all the residue I removed from the compressor blades

Sorry to butt in, but V do you reckon that a chipped RS2 needs an uprated breather system or will it get by without any ill effects, or will it happen eventually?
Also what exactly are the adverse effects, for me and anyone else not fully up to speed?
Thanks.
